I thought I would try to mix it up by going for like a sneak behind / forward base and then shock attack on Arena and fortified clearing. I have been trying it with Japanese for the faster attack infantry. I practiced it in skirmish quite a bit to work out the timings / vill numbers and I can get a really good number (around 20) quite quickly without much wasted time/resource. Even with a few games with good execution and opponent being greedy with only palisade walls it just doesn't really work. The feudal units just feel way too weak even in mass. They can obviously get to castle and either place defensive castle or even just go for whatever UU they were planning to make. Can anything like this work? Or do you just have to go fast castle on these closed maps? I'm not saying it should be the best strat ever, but it feels like if opponent goes full greed, no army and poor scouting, it should be possible to punish somehow.

Im gonna come clean, ive been an ottoman meat rider and apologist for the longest time but this civ is just too stacked. The dev needs to do more than nerf Sipahi a bit and call it a day. I legit dont know how do you beat an ottoman timing push with free mang+jan. Its too many free units at the same time. The casters were mentioning this strat during EGCTV and i finally understand why it is broken. It's up to 2200/2800 of free resource in 1 go + the free units military school produces throughout the ages + the units the ottoman players make. The deathball is way too strong, especially when you consider the Mether buffs+AOE healing Imam.

This has been present since the start of the game. Since it hasn’t been fixed, I’m not sure if it’s still considered a bug by now, or if it is some sort of game limitation. But, I didn’t see it reported anywhere, so I’m reporting it here just in case it is a bug and has been forgotten about. The fishing dialogue is present in the game files, so it’s strange that it’s not used. Sadly I'm not a meta player, so I don't have a lot to add in strategy points or technology. Y'all can correct me on these points. Major God ideas: So Chinese are very good at turtling, so I think a Fourth Major God should focus on an aggressive playstyle Yu Huang or The Jade Emperor The Supreme Authority of Heaven. -God power: Protection of Ziwei Star (Purple Emperor Star), Enhance the resistence of selected military units over a period of time. The range of the god power get bigger over the ages. -God Blessing: Mandate of Heaven. Your territory is protected by the Will of Heaven, recovering from catastrophes. For every building destroyed, you regain 30% of their resource value. -Favored Land: Train millitary units faster. Ally units move faster on it -Mythic Age Demigod Hero: Princess Longji, riding a phoenix and fighting with twin flying swords. She have an aura that giver divine protection for ally millitary units Myth Units ideas Huli Jing or Fox Spirits Sadly we already have the Kitsune in the game, so I doubt they would repeat the technically same creature. But as hope is the last thing ever lost, let's try: A Classical Age fast myth unit that uses fox fire as a automatic projectile, in the form of colored wisps that float in the air. They can also bite on close range, but it causes less damage. The Huli Jing need to charge it through time. Their upgrade would improve the number of wisps and demage done. Their appearence, to differentiate them from kitsunes, could have a transparent colored woman's apparition over their fox bodies, and with the ability to speak (as they do in the Classic of Mountains and Seas) Bixi or Turtle Dragon Following the "Nine Sons of the Dragon" motiff, with the Yazi and Chiwen, I think this Son of the Loong would be interesting to use. I enjoy 1v1 fine, but I prefer playing 4v4 allied with my teenage son. He plays on his laptop next to my desktop and we talk strategy in realtime. We are both ~850 (team game) elo after bottoming in the 600s, and now slowly grinding our ranking up as we improve. I play as flank and he plays the pocket on the same side. Mostly on Arena and Black Forest. We've used a few civ combinations but lately we've been going me Goths and him Bohemians. I go FC, 1 TC and spam infantry for early Castle Age attack and he goes 2 TC with hand cannons and their special bombard cannons. I've also done Celts and Persians as flank and he's also done Berbers. I just find the 4v4 social aspect, coming through for your teammates, and winning a close hour-long hard fought battle is as good as it gets in online gaming.

That got me thinking - what are the most one-sided match-ups? Not necessarily "best civ in the game" vs "worst civ in the game" but from a tech tree/strategies perspective. soooo I have enjoyed watching him play the last week, since his skill-level reflects that of mine. and he is able to talk while playing and kind of "self-commentate", which for example Beasty doesn't quite manage to do. however, he quickly gets frustrated/tilted then rage quits without saying GG. seems like poor form in general , but especially for someone who is being livestreamed and players are taking etiquette/mannerism ques from KP if you're reading this - say GG before rage quitting a game no matter how titled you are. it shows good sportsmanship and creates a better community vibe

Hii! I'm struggling to find good content online that goes into it. But are the dlc factions well designed? Like do they fit well next to the classics or do they feel kinda shoe horned in like China in the Extended Edition? I play casually, mostly against AI so things like balance are not that important too me. But I really liked how fleshed out they were, AoM got me super into Egyptian and Norse mythology as a kid and I was kinda hoping it could have that same spark for the new ones!

People completely understimate Militia, they are great vs cav and deal with siege weapons, they tank fire for archers and ARE FREE!!!!!!!! Why is this god so broken. I find them an incredibly hard civ to push due to keeping siege alive between the huszar siege bonus suicide and cav archer snipes. If they get to their ideal comp it seems one of the best in the game since most other deathball comps are immobile/slow and either susceptible to raiding or bad at raiding themselves, as well as their gold unit being easy to keep alive and their trash unit beating all other trash nearly 2-1. I'll take mongols over it any day of the week

If devs make wall building more satisfying then we'd see more of them at all levels of play and it would allow devs to have some more margin to buff RC (apparently often complained to be weak, which i can't wrap my head around), make poseidon not such a low effort "gotcha" ladder stomper and more of a skill matchup, fast raiding myth units have more counterplay etc -Having to re target vills manually to not waste time building un necessary wall segment feels bad (for example a 15g segment can be done 5 seconds faster if you just target the middle of the wall) -have numbers be real : a 15g middle wall segment shows 15sec build time when really it's 25. That 15g wall segment is costing over 50 resources if you take build and walk time into account... i think it's a huge cost - These unfinished but functionnaly useless wall segments are also unsatisfying to look at. - allow 18 g wall segments to be gateable, maybe even 15g ones ? - 6 gold segments (which are basically just pilons without any actual wall segment) should be merged into one building block I'm sure there are a few more ways to make wall building flow more naturally and not be this meticulous unsatisfying headache. Edit : to people thinking raid factions would become too weak with such a change, please consider that they can be buffed in others ways, i'd take 50% weaker walls any day over the clunky hasle we have to deal with rn. Just saying, having walls be artificially unsatisfying to build shouldn't be the crutch that allows raid factions to function. No ? ~ vindiCARES

Some time ago, I was reviewing the Latin American revolutions in AoE III and realized that several of them aren’t fully represented as they should be, or they lack sufficient content. I’ve always felt these revolutions were incomplete—whether due to a lack of specific art assets for the units they aim to portray or a shortage of historically accurate units from that era. So, I’m sharing some ideas here that could be implemented to flesh out the Latin American revolutions, making them feel more complete and better aligned with the historical events that followed each country’s independence. I’ve done extensive research into the independence eras and subsequent events for each nation. I hope to represent all my fellow Latin Americans respectfully in this post; like them, I want our countries to be well-represented in AoE III . With everyone’s permission, I am attaching the new Home City cards and units for each revolution below. I should note that I’ll cover the remaining countries—such as Mexico and Canada—in a future post, as the United States is already well-developed, and this post focuses on our South American neighbors. 1 - We begin with the Gran Colombia revolution: the Home City cards remain unchanged, though the two Llanero shipment cards have been removed. Six new cards have been added to the Home City, three of which introduce new units. the Llaneros have been updated with a new card; below, I have listed the new cards and their respective effects. Hi guys I'm new to AoE2 universe. I did play Age of Mythology back in college. I mainly play Dota 2 but recently I'm seeing lot of resurgence in AoE2 and so wanted to try. My intention is to get into ranked games eventually but I notice so many DLCs I am utterly confused, which ones to buy. The intention to buy is so that I cover all civs required for ranked games before the steam summer sale ends. I also got to know even when you buy some DLCs those civs are not available on ranked now I'm even more confused! Please help me buy all DLCs that are eligible for ranked. I am around 1100 Elo and recently every game I go to, I make a few scouts and try to go in but the enemies are almost always fully walked in somehow and if they have a small gap or a weakness, they got a few spears guarding it it just feels like going for any sort of feudal aggression just doesn’t seem worth it especially with scouts since if I try to break a wall, they just get a vil to house the behind Should I switch my strategh to archers? There are some issues that should be, well, made priority before we get the next age of empires game, we know things are moving behind the scenes as Worlds Edge and Forgotten Empires are looking out for UE developers so before moving to the next aoe game, i think its time to seal the deal with aoe4 in a good note, that has a couple of implications. 1-) Modding Situation So modders need their complete tool, remember, the tool is still in beta with little to almost no changes in the last 3 years, a situation that should not continue being as it is. Modding is the backbone of any game that wishes to survive the test of time and age of empires 4 needs to get their things together in this matter, changes need to be done. Recently a game breaking bug that caused a controversy in the modding scene was revealed. So basically my friends just bougth aoe 4 and we all play on PlayStation. When they finished the tutorial i tried to invite them in my group but it said they didnt have the same crossplay settings as me. So they changed them but it kept saying that anyway. Then my account went offline and my friends too. I tried multiple things to fix it but nothing works. So i deleted the game and re installed it and my friend too and now we are totally locked outside the game and i cant play no more and he cant too. It gives this error that basically says that i am offline or that i didnt log in on PlayStation network.
