After giving Yue Fei's Legacy a try in hard difficulty, I decided to also finish the Sultans Ascend campaign. While Yue Fei was overall pretty decent (it's the best AoE4 campaign IMO, which isn't much, given how the game's solo player content is overall mediocre), boy, The Sultans Ascend was quite a (tedious) ride. I don't know how it works in lower difficulties, but in hard, the AI constantly gets free attack waves consisting of pretty much every unit, including a few dozens of elite knights on later missions. It makes the entire thing incredibly tedious, since you can hardly have a good trade with the AI past mission 3 (except for Ain Jalut, where you can more or less enforce your own tempo). His units will counter your units, and you will suffer a bunch of casualties, no matter how hard you micro. The later two missions are the icing on the cake: if you're caught in the open, you'll likely lose your entire army, or most of it, after each IA attack and will have to rebuild from scratch. It's not so bad in the last mission where you have infinite gold, but it's pretty effing annoying in the siege of Acre, where gold is sparse. I found myself constantly oscillating between max population and less than a 100, because my army kept getting wiped out by insane AI waves that would spawn out of thin air in front of my very eyes every five minutes. I know there's something to be said with deathballs rolling over the AI in some RTS's campaigns (SC2 and AoE2, I'm looking at you), but constantly losing your entire army to spawned attack waves really isn't more exciting. TDLR, I didn't have a bit of fun playing this campaign on hard and I think it a good summary of how not to design your RTS campaign

Build last one Platform:Xbox Series X Subject: Xbox Series X – Keyboard & Mouse input is broken in AoE 2: DE (Villager and Selection bugs) Hi Developers, I am an AoE veteran who has been playing RTS games with a keyboard and mouse (KBM) since the 386 PC and PlayStation 2 eras. I refuse to use controllers or casual “Auto-Eco” automations. RTS belongs to KBM. Unfortunately, the current state of KBM support on Xbox Series X is broken and feels completely abandoned. Here are the two major issues making the game unplayable for me: 1. Villager Idle Bug (Move vs. Build priority) About 6 months ago, an update completely ruined villager behavior for KBM players. The Issue: When I select a villager, place a building foundation, and click it, the villager walks to the center of the foundation, stops, and goes completely IDLE . They refuse to build. This bug forces me to constantly babysit and micro-manage every single villager just to get a basic house or barracks built. It worked perfectly at launch, but you broke it months ago and never fixed it. 2. Building Selection & Deletion Bug The Issue: Frequently, clicking on a building (mine or enemy’s) does not register at all. The building refuses to get selected, meaning I cannot perform vital actions like deleting/demolishing my own structures. I have to click away multiple times and spam click back on the building to get the game to register the input. This is a severe UI/input focus issue within the console port, not a hardware problem. Please stop treating KBM players on Xbox as invisible. We want a raw, functional RTS experience with a mouse, just like we had decades ago. Campaign bug Campaign for “Sundjata” number 2 “The Sting of the Scorpion” . The “Relic Cart” got converted to yellow control “Tabon” (an Allies) by a “Skirmisher” shortly after I moved it . I can’t move it, or get any unit to converting it back to my control. So I can’t complete to ques t . Before moving the Relic Cart I killed all 3 enemy factions. So I can’t even get an enemy to finish Tabon off to unlock the Relic Cart for control and movement ag ain. FREQUENCY OF ISSUE How often does the issue occur? CHOSE ONE; DELETE THE R EST ! Less than 25% of the time / matches I play (RARELY) 25% of the time / matches I play (SOMETIMES) 50% of the time / matches I play (FREQUENTLY) 100% of the time / matches I play (ALWAYS) I don’t plan to use 4 hours again to see if the bug happens once more. So I’ve seen the bug 1 time. REPRODUCTION STEPS List CLEAR and DETAILED STEPS we can take to reproduce the issue ourselves… Be descrip tiv e! Here’s the steps to reproduce the issue: Kill off all enemy and there buildings. A few walls parts is still standing. First Niger, second Sangaran, last Labe. Have no forces close to the Relic cart and drive it past a yellow (Tabon) Skirmisher inside your own base. Nothing can convert it back to your control again. Monk or other units don’t work. And I can’t make Tabon my eneny to kill the off. EXPECTED RESULT What was SUPPOSED to happen if the bug you encountered were not pr ese nt? I could move my Relic Cart from my base to the 3 needed locations to complete the campaign. So i barely played this week, going online this saturday, 3 games in a row, 3 cheaters (at least, i didn't have time to check their teamates) if not always, it's nearly always chineses. i have like 150 videos for 2 years for my personnals support reports, it's 95% chineses. At this point i will go back to sc2. It takes like 15/20 min to make a full report with accounts links, video edit..etc. Every single fucking game. Not to mention i can't watch all replays in x1 speed, or their teamates, but maybe i would have doubled reports, and bans, if i had patience and time to do it. I'm at the point i ll now play unranked and leave as soon as there is a chinese in the game. Trigger Event: always Repro Steps: add alt-x to garrison hotkey add alt-x to expulse hotkey see what happen in the video: the hotkey of expulse doesnt work unless player click in expulse icon but using the hotkey doesnt work because the game thinks alt-x must be used for garrison when the units are already garrisoned in the alien ship removing the alt-x assigned to garrison now i can use expulse hotkey alt-x
