I don’t get to play so much anymore but I still think about this game a lot, and coming up with custom content has become my substitute for gameplay. Anyways, the evolution of financial instruments was crucial to imperialism in the early modern era represented in AoE III. I think it would be both historically immersive to integrate these concepts into the game and would open up strategies that are only partially realized at the moment. The way it would work is that every civilization would have access to building a Bank (although only Dutch and Dutch Consulate Banks would continue to trickle Coin–Dutch would have the same limit they have now–all other civs would be limited to 2 banks, barring research or cards). When you click on the Bank, it would have a UI similar to the Market with buttons corresponding to different loan types. You can only take out 1 loan at a time per bank. Hence why the limitation on banks even for civs that don’t receive a trickle–they could take out 1 loan from 1 bank then take out a second one from a second bank to artificially manipulate the first loan. Again this confers another unique strategy to the Dutch. Taking out a loan would change your cursor into a contract icon. You would then click on an eligible unit (building, ship, livestock) to use it as collateral. In exchange, you would immediately receive a lump sum of Coin based on the value of that asset (not 100% loan to value ratio). You could then spend that Coin however you wanted—buying resources at the Market for an early timing attack, rushing to the next Age, FF and FI, replacing a destroyed army, slinging resources to a teammate, or investing in your economy. The other basic loan I have conceived of is taking out a loan against your next shipment (with the release of Denmark this becomes a funny counter to their customs house). TLDR: Do NOT Age Up to Imperial while in Japanese Isolation. Set the Consulate to anything other than Japanese Isolation, then when you are in Imperial, switch back to Japanese Isolation (and research all your techs) and then go Meiji Restoration. Make sure to also send both Dojos to maintain access to archaic units. The Japanese has a tech in the Consulate under Japanese Isolation called Meiji Restoration. The tech essentially Ages you up to Imperial immediately, transforming some of your units on the map, and replacing them in the Barracks/Stables with more modern units. However, if you Age Up to Imperial while in Japanese Isolation, the Meiji Restoration tech will be removed. I believe this is the way it is intended to work, where you get to pick between going regular Imperial or Meiji Restoration, but not both. It is essentially a Japanese Revolt that kicks you into Imperial rather than chaining you to Industrial. If you want to have access to both archaic and Meiji units, you need to send at least one Dojo, as Dojo are the only way to make archaic units. Barracks and Stables will have archaic options replaced with Meiji units, and Daimyo will only be able to produce Ashigaru To Imperialize both sets of units, make sure you Age Up WITHOUT Japanese Isolation as mentioned above. Once you are in Imperial, tech up all your archaic units, then go Meiji Restoration to access your new units, then you can research Imperial Meiji Army to have both sets of units with Imperial stats. If you double Imperial, your Ashigaru essentially gets double Imperial upgrades. Keep in mind any existing Consulate units with Gunpowder tags will also get double Imperial upgrades, as Imperial Meiji Army buffs all Gunpowder units by 40/40 on top of their regular Imperial shadow tech. I play aoe 4 prevalently and would love to get into aoe3 but the graphics seems do different. I have my settings to max but I feel like something just doesn’t look right. Is there a certain version that has higher graphics quality or is that also not a thing?

Hello everyone, greetings. As you all know, new revolutions have just been added for the upcoming Baltic DLC; these can be tested in the game’s open beta, which most of you have already accessed. While there are significant changes and additions regarding these new revolts, there are also some bugs and historical inaccuracies. The purpose of this post is for us—the community—to address the minor issues found in this new content, focusing specifically on the Prussian revolution and its evolution into the German Confederates. We can then share our findings here so the developers can address these problems more quickly before the official launch. For my part, I will share some points I’ve come across during my time playing the beta, and I hope that all of you will also share your comments regarding any bugs found or suggestions for improving the Prussian Revolt. Alright, to start off, a big thank you to the developers for taking the time to return to supporting the game—and especially for delivering this new Baltic DLC. Even if it might not seem like it, we are very grateful and happy to have new content for AoE III again. I’d also like to share some suggestions and bugs I’ve noticed while playing the beta over the last few days. The first errors I noticed occurred when advancing to the German Confederates after having already revolted as Prussia. I realized the “Citizens” Home City card is bugged; the text states that it allows you to ship settlers and enables the “March Revolution” ability at Town Centers, yet settlers and this ability are actually active from the start, without needing to ship the card. Furthermore, I believe that upon revolting as the German Confederates, settlers are supposed to transform into Revolutionaries, but this didn’t happen—or at least in my case, they remained settlers.
