I play Age of Empires 2 because it's a game that's very indepth. Um, very captivating. Holy Viper sends 20 bills forward. What? It's his entire economy. It's literally every last one of his villagers. How is this a pro tournament? He kills one bill. Wait, it's actually good. What? This is the the two of the best players in the world. Obviously, if I'm being pushed, it's going to be rough. But if I can keep my map control, then I think it'll be okay. Probably Yeah, do we open Chu ko nu? Hi guys, I wanted to share a passion project I’ve been working on recently: https://www.aoe2rms.com or https://aoe2rms.web.app/ I love the custom map scene in AoE2, but always felt like the tools available for writing Random Map Scripts could be a bit more modern and accessible. I built this web app to fill that gap. It’s completely free to use, and I’m hoping it helps more people get into creating their own custom maps for tournaments or casual lobbies. My goal was to create a clean interface that helps both beginners learning the ropes and veteran scripters who want a more streamlined workflow. So AoE 2 was one of the first videogames I ever played, grew up back and forth playing that and SWGB, love the game and all that jazz. I've spent the entire time only playing skirmish matches either solo or with family as co-op against the ai. I want to play against other people, but I know that I'm not 1kElo good... I usually hit an 11:00-11:30 feudal, I'm probably around 400-650. I didn't know about build orders and "the advanced tutorial" stuff until DE came out. I just really don't wanna go through the dozens of losses before I actually settle into my elo... Any tips?

Before I start, let me be clear: I'm not completely new to the genre. I've played a bit of StarCraft, Command & Conquer, Heroes of Might and Magic, and Stronghold. Altogether, I've probably got around 40-50 hours across all of them. I'm also aware that not using hotkeys (and generally having low APM) is holding me back quite a bit, but even so, I don't think I should be as bad as I am. I generally get destroyed by the AI unless I'm playing on Easy or Normal, and even then it takes me way too long to win. In online matches - when I do try them - (I usually only play the campaigns), my opponents are easily three times faster than I am. I struggle to manage my economy/base while also controlling my army/attacking etc. etc. So, does anyone have any general tips for improving?

It takes so long to destroy a ram that the Scorpion is unable to attack other units—a significant drawback when compared to the Mangonel.

I just played a game of Empire Wars. Yeah i know the Game mode is weird but i felt a bit nostalgic about the last Red Bull. What a Tournament! So i played a Magyar Mirror match on themse. My opp went two stable instantly i went one an we had some Scouts fights. At some point my Opp startet to pause the Game everytime an engangement was about to happen. At first i thought it was just coincidence but he did it every time our armys were gooing to fight. That this is completly and utterly disrespectfull is one thing. But is there a real reason to do that. I am wondering what he wanted to achieve with it. Do you guys have any idea. Btw he paused until he could not pause anymore.

Next year will mark the AOE 30th anniversary. XBOX generally celebrates these anniversaries and web already seen a great show for the 25th anniversary. Do you think we'll a dedicated show and what would you like to see or what do you think could be announced?

I have had three games on Ghost lake during this map rotation. In all three games I sent my scout immediately to capture the middle sheep, and to my surprise, there was literally no resistance from my opponents . Isn’t early sheep control meta on Ghost lake?? Allowing the opponent to have all the middle sheep seems suicidal to me, even if you get to push all the deer(Elo~1300)

I´m trying to play Bulgarians, i´ve seen so many pro gramers ranking it as the worst civ that it confuses me. I kinda like it. Anyhows I´m 950 elo so I´m potentially missing things. I´m using Kreposts and there´s this Castle´s technology unblocked at Imperial called hoardings. For Bulgarians it´s blocked. Yet it´s also meant for Kreposts and Bulgarians is the only civ who can build them, right? So it just seems like a bug to me. Research Hoardings (400400) Castles, Kreposts and Donjons +1,000 HP.

I realized that no civilisation give any bonus to petards, if I'm not mistaken. Also, I rarely see them. In my games, it's ONLY used to destroy a castle, from a very close ennemy castle (less than 5 tiles away). Are petards not that usefull? Should they be used more often to destroy buildings? Wouldn't be interesting to see a civilisation giving bonuses to them?

Every other time I get villagers walking from the TC to the other side of the map I thought it was me miss-clicking but in this game I had streams of villagers walking in the wrong direction repeatedly. I think it was only when I clicked the woodline next to my second TC, if I set the gather point on the stone it was fine, but if I clicked the woodline, the vills walked into my opponents base.
