If a hero has the “Infantry” or “Archer” tag or any other tag other than “Hero”, he does not stand at the front of the entire formation, but gets the same position as other units with this tag.

Unfortunately, I can’t find the keyboard shortcut to select all units of a particular type – not just the ones currently on screen, but across the entire map. For example, all caravans, all catapults, or even all village centres... Please help me; I’ve seen it done on YouTube many times, but I just can’t seem to find it.

I've recently gotten AoM Retold and am re-learning the game by playing through the FoTT campaign and seeing what is different. I've finally gotten to the Norse (my favorite civ) and the changes are...a lot. I get the balance of how Gatherers now build ox carts and houses, it's honestly a good change from the original. What I understand less are the Hirdman and Godi. Are Ulfsarks/Berserks still the "default" infantry unit for the Norse, or is that role now done by the Hirdman? Or, are Hirdmen meant specifically as an anti-cavalry unit? Do Berserks still have an anti-cav multiplier? From a design perspective, why were Hirdmen added, and the name changed from Ulfsark to Berserk? As for Godi, I get that in terms of stats and cost they are basically identical to Hersir, albeit with a ranged attack instead of a melee one. In general, which is used more often in matches? In PvE?

Just played a game where my opponent got to spam Jarls into Yari Spearmen as Amataresu. Instead of his Jarls dropping like flies he got to melt my Spearmen despite us having equal tech parity and upgrades. How is this fair again? Do the devs realize that their should be a MOBILITY TAX? IE fast cav units should get massacred like flies vs spearmen, give them a 200% bonus damage penalty vs spearws in addition to the spearmens base multipliers. Never seen such a badly balanced game that claims to be about a “counter” system and yet my opponent gets to rob me of a win when I scouted him throughout the match and built the perfect counter and he gets to beat me anyways, spamming 20 Jarls into 40 spearmen and coming out on top. WTF? For god’s sake fix your game, cav should have less then 40% of infantry dps as a mobility tax and they should get melted in 2 hits to spearmen, my smooth brained opponent shouldn’t be rewarded for spamming cav into a counter unit. Spearmen aren’t a multipurpose unit. They are designed to do 1 thing. 1 Spearmen should be fully capable of killing 2-3 cav units, absolutely ridicolous that cav have no mobility tax and get to be spammable and cost effective into a unit who’s sole existence is designed to counter them , they have nothing else, no moiblity , no pierce armor, can’t raid, NOTHING. Why are spearmen multipliers so LOW! They need to be TWICE what they are. You should absolutely be punished for not microing your cav and getting them within range of spears.

We now have two pantheons with perfectly normal-looking mother earth goddesses, and then there’s Gaia looking like a lonely Marvel fan’s deleted browser history. As if she didn’t already look like hot garbage in the context of her own pantheon. The whole conceit behind Retold’s art direction for the Atlantean gods was to move away from the pop fantasy aesthetic toward a more classical style, so why was Gaia the exception? It’s a bizarre choice. Even if you enable the legacy portraits pack, her statue is there looking like nothing an ancient civilization would ever sculpt and pray to.

Is it Set with his cheaper migdol units and access to Thoth? Is it Isis with her eco benefits, population bonus and access to Thoth? Is it Ra with his generally stronger cavalry? I suspect it’s Isis, but I’d like to hear from someone better at math and stats than I.

I wanted to put an idea out there. The Quetzalcoatl snake model from the campaign is absolutely beautiful and its a shame there is no access to it in multiplayer. I would love it if they used that model for his Incarnate from the great temple. Would make it feel much cooler than the current version.

The Idea Since the release of Demeter and Persephone, I have seen a lot of players wishing they could finally pair Persephone with Hades. That got me thinking: What if Age of Mythology Retold allowed players to create fully custom god lineups? Each god would be defined with variants to indicate how it would act as a Major God, or as a minor god of each age. The idea would not just be to reshuffle existing gods, but to redefine how they function depending on where they appear in the lineup. Why I Think This Would Add Massive Replayability This would add a literal ton of replayability, as the developers could decide where and when to make use of different combinations of major and minor gods. Every match could feature entirely different civilization identities, even within the same pantheon. Matchups would become far less predictable, increasing adaptation and scouting importance. Players would constantly discover new synergies, timings, and build orders. Familiar gods appearing in unfamiliar ages would fundamentally change pacing and strategy. The same Major God could support radically different playstyles depending on the selected minor gods. AI personalities could become significantly more diverse by using thematic or randomized lineups. Multiplayer drafting formats could emerge, where players compete over specific gods and synergies. The system could create emergent storytelling moments, such as mythological rivalries or relationships appearing in entirely new contexts. Example Lineups Looking only at the current 16 Greek gods, this system would already create an absurd amount of possible combinations and playstyles. And every future god addition would expand that number dramatically. Some possible combinations of which could be like ones below. Combination One Hephaestus -> Artemis/Hera -> Poseidon/Athena -> Zeus/Hestia . Why am I writing this? Because it's fun! The choice for the 4th Aztec major god is obvious from the start. The 4th tezcatlipoca (godly emperor) has been left out, so here we go. The idea is for him to subvert expectations (like Freyr and Demeter do) and encourage you to play defensively. So he's focused on defense, with quite a bit of healing mechanism. His techs and minor gods are also designed to attempt to make the less useful Aztec units more useful. Myth units images were found online (credits to the artists), while god portraits were generated with ChatGPT, due to lack of proper depictions online. Numbers are placeholders. So here goes: Xipe Totec: The red tezcatlipoca and the emperor of the East. Associated with blood, bounty of the Earth and Corn (yeah, the Aztecs obviously knew human blood was a good fertilizer, lol). Despite his bloody appearance, he was a good associated with peace and prosperity. God power: Corn Field -> Cast on a Farm or Chinampa to upgrade them into a Corn Field (similar to Shennong's Farms). Corn Field works the same as a Chinampa, but it can also devout Settlers, earning favor. Once the the Settler has been devout on the Field, the Field becomes blessed for 2 minutes, significantly increasing food production, as well as producing lumber and gold. Unique units: Teixiptla: Xipe Totec Teixiptla "drains blood" from enemy units, effectively having a ranged attack, and distributing it to allies units in aoe of 10. For every X damage Teixiptla deals, allied units in range are healed equally for X/number of allied units. Xipe Totec Incarnate: A powerful ranged hero with the special ability to shield allied units in aoe of 10, gaining them temporary bonus XP and healing them for 20% of their health. Bonuses: Quimichin Spies and War Hut Units (units that can build traps) can also repair buildings. Buildings are repaired 10% faster.
