Taking advantage of the fact that today is the 250th anniversary of the United States… I’m going to explain how to use the Maltese and US-MP civilizations in campaigns… if someone can make a mod to share it, that would be great, since this is something the devs failed to do, unlike in AoE 2, where they always add new DLC civilizations to the campaigns…12345 image 690×459 305 KB image 690×459 342 KB You could even do it with a mod or not, changing the campaign civilizations to your Maltese and multiplayer United States civilizations (although you would need to have both DLCs purchased and installed)… I know, but not everyone knows, that you can edit the official campaign itself. To do this, you need to copy and paste from the Campaign to the Scenario Editor, and if you want, you can save the edited version and overwrite the original version in the main game. Plus, I can use HC Card Desk from Skirmish. To find the official Campaigns file. Let say for example Drive D, go to SteamLibrary>Steamapps>common>AoE3DE>Game>Campaign and you will find them along side with Historical Battles and Challenges. In case if you get confused on with “Wonders”, it’s The Asian Dynasties. Then Copy and paste the files into [Username]>Games>Age of Empires 3 DE>[Random Numbers]>Scenario and it’s done. As for the HC Card Desk you use for Skirmish or online, go to [Username]>Games>Age of Empires 3 DE>[Random Numbers]>Savegame and you will see your Civ HC on there. Copy and paste them (XML) to SteamLibrary>Steamapps>common>AoE3DE>Game>Campaign into any existing files or make your own file like HC. Then renamed them for example: sp_Dutch_homecity.xml to Homecity_sp_Dutch.xml so it can use in civilization you choose to play as. Enjoy! 12345

Hey guys, I watched Lionhearts youtube video from last Thurdsay showing greatscythe on 1.4k elo. Watching that match I kept on thinking, damn, these guys have no micro for this level. Now, I am also around that range. Here is a match I played recently which I feel displays a more realistic level of micro for the elo range. There are some noob moments ofc, but I still think it's a really interesting game! Check it out: Lakota vs Russia 1v1 - Age of Empires III Definitive Edition - YouTube

Hello to you, I am looking for the name of a mod I had that allows you to age up by age 5 after a revolution via a technology installed in the city center. The main concern is that I no longer remember the name of the mod doing this; could you help me please? I tried to find out with Chat GPT, but can’t help me. Best regards

Reworking of Age of Empires III campaigns

Greetings everyone; I hope you are doing well. The purpose of this post is to discuss everything related to the campaigns of Age of Empires III and its expansion, The WarChiefs . As we all know, these campaigns received mixed reviews at the time; some people liked them while others didn’t, but ultimately, they were what we had back in 2005 and 2006. Most of us simply played and accepted them, unaware that much of the content was poorly represented or ill-suited for the story being told about that historical period. Below, I will provide several examples of what was done wrong in the original campaigns and how those historical errors—which still persist in the Definitive Edition —could have been improved. Age of Empires III: Act 1 Blood : The first campaign dates back to the Renaissance era, just as the colonization of the Americas was beginning. This becomes apparent halfway through the campaign when you must travel to the New World to stop Sahin the Falcon. At first, everything seems fine—knights fighting Ottoman Janissaries and massive bombards—but then you realize that the Order’s magnificent armored cavalry are actually 18th-century hussars; that is the first historical error. Next, you use crossbowmen and pikemen—which are reasonably accurate—until you discover that the barracks allow you to train Rodeleros . These are a distinctly Spanish unit with little connection to the Order’s Knights Templar. While one might try to justify some of this, the artillery foundry allows you to build 17th-century mortars instead of culverins—another historical error. Finally, various cutscenes and scenarios feature musketeers and Highlanders—units that are completely anachronistic given that the campaign takes place in the early 16th century. The solution to these errors and inaccuracies would be to fully incorporate the Maltese civilization (introduced in the Knights of the Mediterranean expansion) and add specific Maltese Home City cards to make the campaign feel more histori

Hot take:AOE3 died because it tried to copy starcraft

I heard multiple times AOE dev Sandy saying that they wanted to do a starcraft like game whit civs that were 100% different from each other and that's why age of mythology had civs that did not shared units. Age 3 vanilla was great because it continued the phylosophy of age 2,and the most popular civs still being the euro civs to this day. But when the warchiefs arrived, they were not only 100% different from the euro, but also between each other. IDK why the cetan bow and aenna have to be different units, neither the axe rider and kanya horseman. Also here is when we started to get weirdo units whitout intuitive counters, like thr tomahawk countering cavalry and the coyote runner artillery. Whit the asian dinasties theh doubled down, theycould had make a glaive lancer shared between the 3 civs, or an arquebusier as a musketeer shared by asians, orshared artillery, but they opted for 100% civs because "starcraft did it". The problem whit all of this is that releasing a new civ that is not european is waaaaay more expensive to develop than an entire age4 expansion. If you want to make koreans for example, you need cavalry, infantry, artillery AND EVEN SHIPS made 100% original. The system is already broken and cannot be fixed at this point, the devs teased an expansion that was cancelled that was made of another set of euro civs, because they are the only ones whit good design in the entire game. And don't get me start ranting on the USA and Mexico🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️ absolute abominations of feature creep
