This is something I have recollected to myself about Treaty game play and the Treaty game culture overall: most people punish mistakes in competitive treaty games, and exploit the weakness as a sign of personal strength and rank in the competitive Treaty scene. Whereas I have talked about Rush play being elitist, the way that Treaty players often act is that a person without experience is not allowed to play with them. What I'm saying here is that if a game is just a what if, then it should not be important whether you have 10 Horse Artillery or 10 Culverins in your starting army. Even if it was 5 Horse Artillery, 5 Mortars or 5 Culverins it should not be important what you have in your starting army. You should be allowed to have outlaws in your starting army, such as 5 Wokou Horsemen or 5 Dacoits, even though they are sub-optimal unit choices. In the legacy game, playing by the book was considered important because it could cost you the game match if you didn't do so regularly. But I'm proposing here is a less serious level competition on Treaty games where enjoyment with other people comes first, rather than a late game grind of who is the most efficient military player. I have one AI mod that does not play by the book and that is Freestyle Gold AI, and I have two AI mods that play by the book, Klaxon Superb AI and N3O Better AI TAD 1.03 Gold. Overall they are very interesting AI experiments because they can all play late game very well. My other AI mod Proper Gentleman uses stock military from AOE3 DE AI, so that is not as interesting in military unit combinations compared to the other choices involved. But one thing my AI mods have given birth to is allowing testing of late game combinations, which would otherwise require a very patient human contestant to test and try all of the experimental options for late game play. As the title. For example, Canada grants the Fencibles promotion for musketeers to upgrade them to guard. Would that stack with Redcoats? The description makes it sound like it doesn’t. I’ve been fixating a bit on the new revolt mechanics recently and toying with which civs pair best with which revolt, the French get the shipment to give their musketeers promotion bonuses so unless the guard bonuses stack they seem to get more out of Canada than the Brits.
