This mod rebalances the economy of Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition by standardizing natural resource gather rates and significantly reducing hunt decay. The goal is to preserve the original feel of the game while opening up new strategic possibilities, reducing repetitive build orders, and making economic decisions more meaningful. Resource Gathering Rework In the unmodified game, villagers gather resources at very different rates: Hunts: 0.84 Coin Mines: 0.60 Trees: 0.50 Because wood and coin are gathered much more slowly than food, most build orders revolve around shipping wood or coin crates (such as 700 Wood or 700 Coin), and age-up politicians providing wood are often the obvious choice. To create a more diverse economic environment, all natural resources now share the same gather rate: Hunts: 0.84 Coin Mines: 0.84 Trees: 0.84 This change encourages alternative shipments, different politician choices, and a wider variety of viable build orders. It also simplifies unit balancing, as resource costs are no longer heavily distorted by gather-rate differences. Hunt Decay Rework The original game causes hunted animals to decay at a rate of 75 food per 100 seconds, making early hunt management impractical in many situations. This mod reduces hunt decay to: 10 food per 100 seconds Animals now remain usable for much longer after being killed, allowing players to strategically relocate and secure hunt positions without suffering massive food losses. You can deliberately shoot down hunts near a favorable location, creating safer and more efficient gathering areas for defensive or turtle-oriented playstyles. The mechanic still carries a resource cost, but it becomes a meaningful tactical option rather than an inefficient gimmick.
