AoE2.ai is tracking 45,668 RM 1v1 players. Top five: #1 Oni.Vinchester 2,921, #2 VIT | Hera 2,912, #3 wR.Lucho 2,882, #4 VIT Liereyy 2,876, #5 wR.Sebastian 2,874. Longest hot streak in the sampled top ladder: Oni.TaToH (26 wins). Best sampled win rate with 300+ games: VIT | Hera 75.0%. 56 of the sampled top players have played in the last 24h.

One of the most popular ideas for future DLC is an expansion focused on the Arab world. In particular, a Saracen split has long been asked by fans. But how could it be? I want to begin by saying that the Saracens split is not as needed as the Indian rework was. The former Indians were a mismatch of different peoples, cultures, religions... Saracens are, after all, Arabs, and mainly Muslims. The MENA region has got a lot of representation since the very beginning (Saracens, Turks, Persians) and we could even say that the Saracens were already splitted with the addition of Berebers back in the day. So, where could a split go? Many fans make a mistake by proposing to split them in dynasties (Umayyads, Abbasids, Ayyubids). This wouldn't work for AOE 2, the same as it would be a mistake to split the Franks in Merovingians, Carolingians and Capets. It's a game about civilizations, not dynasties or states. Another frequent suggestion is splitting them in civs like Egyptians or Syrians. Again, I don't agree with this. Why? Because the regions of Hejaz, Egypt, Syria and Iraq share a common history. They were almost always part of the big Arab powers of their time (Abbasids, Ayyubids, Mamluks...) unless under Mongol or Turkish. So, what civs would I choose for an Arab DLC and Saracen splirt? YEMENI Queen Arwa Mosque, Jibla, Yemen Yemen in South Arabia is home to some of the oldest civilizations in the world. The Yemeni civ in AOE 2 would cover from the pre-Islamic Himyarite kingdom to the various native Muslim dynasties, who ruled as independent rulers during most of the era. It could have bonus like unique Tower Houses and something related to coffee (it may sound silly, but coffee drinking originated in Yemen). Some naval and trade bonus too. And the campaign could be based on queen Arwa, one of the most relevant women of Muslim history. I picked up the game again after playing throughout my childhood. With the Ranked Ladder being added, I wanted to give it a shot and relive some old memories. I lost all of my early games and dropped down to around 250ELO. I practiced some basics and got myself up around 600, but was hard stuck. That's when I went searching for additional help besides online build orders and guides. From this search I came across F1re's coaching. It has made me a much better and faster player shooting me up to 1100ELO is just a few short months. I wanted to share my experience with F1re as a coach. From the beginning, I could tell that F1re was not just seeking another paycheck, but genuinely wanting me to get better. F1re would check in via Discord regularly to not only check my progress, but how I was doing when I wasn't playing. The sessions were through, lasting anywhere from 1-3 hours at a time. All sessions were of course focused around game mechanics, settings, builds, and methods, but there was conversation about what we had going on outside of the game. In addition to F1re, he has established a great community of players who also love to talk about the game and how to improve. Some have turned into great friends and regular teammates for team games. In addition to his community, F1re has developed a website that also offers the same detailed level of coaching and analysis that I received in our live coaching sessions. I feel like he also offers a unique experience for new and experienced players alike. There is hour based live coaching, to tournament preparation, to even a lifetime coaching plan with the end goal of ~2000ELO. I can honestly say that without F1re's help and commitment to seeing me improve, I would have abandoned a game that I have loved since I was a child. If you're looking for someone to help you actually understand the game better and break through that ceiling, I could not recommend F1re enough.

Not to say the castle age variant doesn't need a buff but -10g cost so it costs 100 total resources would be a nice start Following that, both non elite and elite should get +1 range Thereafter elite guecha should have -1 PA but now Muisca get ring archer armour. To compensate, ranged units do not get extra melee armour in imperial age. The bonus damage could also be upped by +1 so then they actually counter arbalesters. Apparently pre release of the DLC the guechas were even stronger than this so the above buffs happening all at once is still nowhere near the power level it once was Omni man says they mimic a fraction of the power compared to pre release. So yea. A gold costing super skirmisher should actually be a super skirmisher. Right now its a bad skirmisher vs intended targets but good vs infantry and okay vs Cavalry if you have enough.

Hi guys, some of my aoe2 friends and I would like to organize a new tournament for the french speaking community. We would like to hide players identities like in the famous T90 tourney but we don't know exactlty how it can be done in game (in discord I think it should not be that hard to make it work). Here are some of the ideas that thought about : • Buy two (or more) copies of aoe2 DE on separate steam accounts and lend them to the players ◦ Advantages : I think it should be easy to set up and it will perfectly hide players identities ◦ Inconvenients : it may be difficult for all the players in the tournament to log in/log out of these accounts (with Steam Guard) and we will need to buy all the extensions if we want to play with them • Make the players change their in-game aliases and play the games with specs unauthorized ◦ Advantages : no need to buy anything ◦ Inconvenients : players identities not very well hidden (for ex elo is visible ig), need to be careful with the lobby setup, tiresome to change your alias every time you play If you guys have other/better ideas (maybe some of you already hosted similar tournaments) we will really appreciate your help ! Is there an AI community for this game? I’ve begun to love playing it (specifically BF) and want to design a BF specific AI that plays the meta like a human pro at BF would. Based on evaluating the map, flank or pocket, civ and civ of opponent etc including deciding whether to vill war for walls. Has that already been designed? If not I can do so, I have a lot of experience on other games doing AI.

I love walls and towers, even on Arabia, and I am happy that style of play we all grew up with can still win games. To anyone else who plays like this, keep doing you! (And to anyone else: get the relics and make a few petards)

I have a lot of experience designing AI for video games and have recently loved playing black forest on AOE2 DE. I have realized based on testing of AIs that I have found that there isn't an AI that plays the meta well in black forest. Do you know if anyone has designed an AI that can play black forest well? If not, would it be of community interest for me to design one? I'd want to program it to evaluate the map at the start (since black forest is played on explored) and decide whether as a flank to play aggressive or go for a vill war to get better walls, castle drop, boom, etc. Essentially, my goal would be to design an AI that as a team of 4 could compete against good rage forest players by playing the meta.

In these posts, I want to explore a few simple ideas that would improve the level of immersion a player has while playing the game. Nothing drastic, simple alteration that wouldn’t affect the balance much or at all. This idea is about grouping Mongols, Cumans, Khitans and Huns into the Nomadic class. They would share some visuals, beyond those they already share and cosmetically give off less of a “settled” vibe. 1) Yurts instead of houses – aesthetically nomadic and adding the steppe vibe to the game. They don’t need to be a separate unique building, just a reskin of a standard house. Alternatively, a weaker, cheaper house variation supporting 3 population. 2) Pastures – a very nomadic version of the farm, currently unique to the Khitans. The base work rate of the pasture would be reduced to match a regular farm and the Khitans would get a simple workrate bonus, similar to the Slavs 3) No fortified walls – Mongols and Khitans currently have them and sure they established settled dynasties like the Liao and Yuan, but following the nomadic motif a lower focus on defence seems appropriate. 4) Catapult galleons instead of cannon galleons; Different architecture for Huns, as the current one is too German A few more possibilities that I think would alter the balance too much: Steppe lancers for Huns; mule carts more all 4 civs; Packable Town centres
