Ok I did some research regarding this scenario. Basically should you fail to rush the tatars in feudal age then you lose. Thats it. Thats the gist of it. No time to turtle and think, no map exploration that allows you to discover a way to beat the scenario. Just a counter, tic toc, tic toc. I understand there is a system of having a certain number of swords represent the difficulty of each campaign and that kotyan has 3. But it still feels… Unfair. I recently played thgough le loi and it was great, very different from whe I first tried The mountain siege years ago. I heard rumors that it was tweaked by the developers. Maybe yes, maybe not. I think this scenario should be taken a look at. Maybe give 5 more minutes before the tatars attack in full force? Fundamentally the campaigns that rely on a single trick to be beaten feel vastly inferior to the other ones: into china for the mongols, if you dont migrate to jins island you lose, bari 4, if you dont petard capuas castle you lose, barbarossa the lombard league if you dont betray henry the lion you lose. This inflexibility seems to be contrary to the spirit of a game noticeable for featuring counters to basically every strategy.

I trying to play the steam version of Age of Empires II definitive edition, offline, but the game don't open when I disconnect the internet, I ever need internet connection to start the game. Same problem occurs in steam offline mode, the game simple dont open. It has some changes I can make in the steam version to run offline?

Well, i randomed into Malians and my opponent was Portuguese. I had planned to go for forward barracks MAA into tower (regardless of his opening choice). My opponent lost~4-5 vills , had a ton of idle time from the attack but managed to get a castle which would have cleared my towers. I legit thought i was dead, but and was surprised that my opponent resigned. The feeling after learnjng the reason was immensely satisfying 11.. they had 50 wood in the bank with no market (thanks to my MAA ) , no stragglers and no clear access to wood . They did have a tc , so technically it was possible for them to get wood.. but that would have been too inefficient

Maybe only as a dedciated civ bonus for one of them, but I think this would help a lot especially to gather chickens, or to optimize a build, etc.

I strictly play 2v2s with a friend of mine and he's been running red phosphoru spanish lately. I've been going heavy for late game while he fucks up our opponent early. What are the top 3 best late game civs for this? Keep in mind we have spanish trade so I usually have near infinite gold. We're both pretty new, 1k elo.

It has been more than 5 months since the last DLC has been released and no teaser or tip about a new expansion has come out. Gor a campaign only player like me is torture. I hope they are preaparing something big. Praying they did not cancel the Cronicles series. This waiting time might mean the non chronicles dev team needs more time to make a new DLC without the pause of the Chronicles expansion release. I am checking for a month daily the aoe site news for the hope of seeing a new annoncement. I feel i'm going crazy :(((.

Clicked to leave queue as it found me a game... 60 second ban 😑 now on a 5 min ban because i was sat in lobby waiting for match to start and someone disconnected. But alt f4 is still rife and as someone who doesnt alt f4 i am getting punished for simply trying to play the game. This is SO MUCH FUN! UPDATE: now on a 10 min ban because my team mate resigned minute 3 so naturally i am not going to continue 4v3 but apparantly i disconected early. WHAT IS THIS NONSENSE 😑

In my quest to get used to playing other maps (because unlimited bans seems like it's never going to be a thing). I have once again tanked my elo by starring Nomad. I like to play aggressive as much as possible because I feel my strength is when the game is complicated and off script. Problem I'm finding on nomad is that I find that everyone plays the same opening of TC + dock + fishing ships and zero army. I have tried deviating from this but the loss of food from the fishing ships is devastating. Are there any viable strategies other than this one? I feel like the closed maps are already very fast castle focused, I was hoping nomad would be different.

I’m not top tier like most people, so games tend to run long. I really can’t stand how you build all this up then late game turns into a no gold slog where your selling food clicking it a million times getting barely any gold. It’s frustrating and sucks. Just not fun at all. We go back and forth then the game just stops. What a fatal flaw for this game. Oh well.

I'd really like to get my hands on the Hera vs Sebastian Warlords 5 showmatch #1 that Hera won 5-2 That happened on April 27th 2026. Everywhere I've looked so far.. including aoe2insights.com and aoe2viewer.com , doesn't have these. I get the sense that the files are only made available for ~2 weeks before they expire and are gone from these sites. I'm not asking to download years-old replays here... these are only 3 months old. Are there any other resources, some kind of archive, where save games are made available for a little bit longer than 2 weeks? Thank you
