Build last one Platform:Xbox Series X Subject: Xbox Series X – Keyboard & Mouse input is broken in AoE 2: DE (Villager and Selection bugs) Hi Developers, I am an AoE veteran who has been playing RTS games with a keyboard and mouse (KBM) since the 386 PC and PlayStation 2 eras. I refuse to use controllers or casual “Auto-Eco” automations. RTS belongs to KBM. Unfortunately, the current state of KBM support on Xbox Series X is broken and feels completely abandoned. Here are the two major issues making the game unplayable for me: 1. Villager Idle Bug (Move vs. Build priority) About 6 months ago, an update completely ruined villager behavior for KBM players. The Issue: When I select a villager, place a building foundation, and click it, the villager walks to the center of the foundation, stops, and goes completely IDLE . They refuse to build. This bug forces me to constantly babysit and micro-manage every single villager just to get a basic house or barracks built. It worked perfectly at launch, but you broke it months ago and never fixed it. 2. Building Selection & Deletion Bug The Issue: Frequently, clicking on a building (mine or enemy’s) does not register at all. The building refuses to get selected, meaning I cannot perform vital actions like deleting/demolishing my own structures. I have to click away multiple times and spam click back on the building to get the game to register the input. This is a severe UI/input focus issue within the console port, not a hardware problem. Please stop treating KBM players on Xbox as invisible. We want a raw, functional RTS experience with a mouse, just like we had decades ago. Problem Context Hello everyone, I’d like to share an idea regarding long-term mod compatibility in Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition. This is a commonly discussed topic within the modding community, especially among long-term mod authors. This is not about mods becoming unusable after every update. In most cases, mods remain functional. However, as the game’s data structure evolves over time, legacy mods gradually fall behind the latest architecture. While still usable, they often cannot naturally benefit from new data structures, improvements, or additions introduced in later updates. 2. Current Limitations Mods often rely on full or large-scale data replacement. Structural changes can require manual re-alignment even if gameplay intent is unchanged. Lack of fine-grained inheritance leads to increasing maintenance cost over time. Legacy mods diverge from current data schema even when functionality remains valid. 3. GAME BUILD #: Version 101.103.48086.0 ( #179158 ) 23798925 GAME PLATFORM: Steam OPERATING SYSTEM: Windows 11 ISSUE EXPERIENCED DESCRIBE THE ISSUE IN DETAIL (below). LIMIT TO ONE BUG PER THREAD. Campaign bug Campaign for “Sundjata” number 2 “The Sting of the Scorpion” . The “Relic Cart” got converted to yellow control “Tabon” (an Allies) by a “Skirmisher” shortly after I moved it . I can’t move it, or get any unit to converting it back to my control. So I can’t complete to ques t . Before moving the Relic Cart I killed all 3 enemy factions. So I can’t even get an enemy to finish Tabon off to unlock the Relic Cart for control and movement ag ain. FREQUENCY OF ISSUE How often does the issue occur? CHOSE ONE; DELETE THE R EST ! Less than 25% of the time / matches I play (RARELY) 25% of the time / matches I play (SOMETIMES) 50% of the time / matches I play (FREQUENTLY) 100% of the time / matches I play (ALWAYS) I don’t plan to use 4 hours again to see if the bug happens once more. So I’ve seen the bug 1 time. REPRODUCTION STEPS List CLEAR and DETAILED STEPS we can take to reproduce the issue ourselves… Be descrip tiv e! Here’s the steps to reproduce the issue: Kill off all enemy and there buildings. A few walls parts is still standing. First Niger, second Sangaran, last Labe. Have no forces close to the Relic cart and drive it past a yellow (Tabon) Skirmisher inside your own base. Nothing can convert it back to your control again. Monk or other units don’t work. And I can’t make Tabon my eneny to kill the off. EXPECTED RESULT What was SUPPOSED to happen if the bug you encountered were not pr ese nt? I could move my Relic Cart from my base to the 3 needed locations to complete the campaign.
