I recently saw some screenshots from the early alpha versions of AoE2, and the ships looked noticeably bigger compared to the units and coastline. Personally, I think increasing the ship size slightly in DE would make naval units look more impressive and realistic, without changing their gameplay. Would you like to see ships increased in size by, say, 15–20%?

Ive recently been looking over and using the Graphical Reskin Pack mod, that mostly adds some simple reskins to several units and buildings, but it also adds some "reskins" for a few civs. After some time reading up on the groups that some of the civs were changed to, I honestly didnt feel they were the best "reskin" and ended up removing them from the script changes. I wanted to hear some more general community thoughts though about what civs you might want to "reskin" and change their name (with no other changes on gameplay, balancing, or playstyle) based on what and who they historically represent and why? I'm curious what others may think with what we already have in the game, not splitting up or creating new civs.

I play in the morning before work and normally have time for 1-2 games. But sometimes a game ends and I still have an awkward 20-30 min window before I have to leave. I usually stop then because I don't want to have to leave a fun game mid way through, so I just watch youtube or something, but ideally I want to squeeze another game in. I normally play macro and don't do all-in builds but I'm thinking this might be the perfect time for some stinky cheese. Playing cheese also might help me learn how to counter it better. I want strategies that usually give an outcome (win or lose) by 35 mins ingame time or earlier (about 20 mins IRL). Doesn't have to be super strong either, I don't want to artificially pump my elo anyway, more just want it to be fun to play. My only idea so far is the Armenians longswords rush I saw waga do in the hera tourney, that looks fun. I thought about teuton tower rush too but that's less appealing to me and I feel like it might lead to games that drag when you only half kill someone with towers. So I'm looking for suggestions, anyone got some creative/fun all-ins to share?

So I figured why not try my hand at this with my own flavor of non-Slop. I promise every last word and hastily google researched piece of data predates ai or so I hope… anyway… no AI. I repeat no AI and no piss filter images because yuck! South of the Sahara is an arid stretch of land, going from Atlantic to Indian Ocean, there is sand and nomads on camel caravans, yet hidden in the sand like a pirate treasure is a vast array of wealth in the form of gold and salt. From these reserves some of the most powerful kingdoms shall rise up. You take to this stretch of Africa and ride camels and find the poisoned flowers needed to carve an empire and learn the best way to extract salt! Take on the might of the Songhay as you control lake Chad and train mighty armies melee armies both on land and at sea. The Tongue Farma is a javelin throwing camel rider whose shots lack accuracy much like the Arambai but their bonuses against gunpowder and horses help with their lower power. In the rivers, train a navy backed by the Kanta , a transport ship that has the old stats prenerf that transport ships had and acts as a drop point for fishing ships. Bring glory to the Kanembu , with mighty horseman armies in quilted armor that puts full plate to shame. Train the Chima Gana , an armored cavalry whose discipline lets him defeat other cavalry and camels and resist anti-cavalry but leaves him with a weakness akin to shock units abd all this power comes at an extra half pop slot usage. And the mighty Imperial Lifidi to get the edge on the rest of the area compared to the usual Lifidi tech for your Mandekalu! Raid the arrid landscape as the Mossi . It sounds like I took a look at the green on a rock and made up a name. I didn’t! Train armies of mobile camelry, melee and at range, including the low damage but armor ignoring camel mounted Nakomse . Back up your plunder with siege forces to destroy your enemies! And the Dagban takes the tail end at the cusp of the arid lands where camels might

Hello. I am a casual player and greatly enjoy coop with my friends against the AI. However our big problem is that hard has become far too easy, but the jump to hardest is way too steep and it feels unbeatable. I know some might just say “git gud”, but we’re casuals, to us having to do a lot of homework in the form of watching endless tutorials and doing grindy training to perfect a build order or get high APM isn’t fun, it’s tedious and hurts our enjoyment of the game. We just want to play and have fun. And I would argue that the AI is there to begin with largely for the sake of casuals, people who truly want to become great tend to play PvP. So big please, can we get an extra level so the curve isn’t so harsh?

I just want to rant here as a fairly new player ( 2 month of playing). Everytime I do battle, I cannot multitask to do my economy and vice versa. Many times people killing all my villagers while I concentrate to killing their army. How could you do that? And of course if I panic and try to recover all my economy then my army dies of mangonel or something stupid. How could people balance all lf these? I am currently 800 elo and keep losing to all kind of strat, fast castle to early aggression. Its so insane and driving me nuts, it seems when they attacked I am almost always losing control of everything

AoE2 has been overall my favourite game for many years. I play it almost everyday. Some of the players I play with I have known them for almost a decade now. Recently I'm trying to get into DE, but there are some things that makes me want to just play the old versions. First of all let me say I dont like rush games. I like booming and playing a good long battle that involves big armies and treb war in maps like Black Forest. Yesterday especially I had like 6 games in a row, where they ended all without me even being able to put up a proper fight. A player gets rushed, he leaves. Another game, we enter enemy and kill some vils, he leaves. No rebooming, no resistance spirit. If I knew they were going to quit like that, I would maybe not attack so strong. Another, Ally rushes enemy, rush fails, he leaves almost without a fight. What a waste of time. So thinking this is probably because its a team game, I went with 1v1, thinking i can have more control there since I will have no allies quitting. And can roleplay so to not scare my enemy away. One game the dude didnt stop cutting. We had a open front that I tried not to attack immediately because he had nothing yet. But he starts cutting everywhere. I wanted to fight him directly but instead he kept trying to f around and opening everywhere while wasting all his gold sending stupid armies without trebs against castles and a fully boomed eco. He was able to get into my eco, but i even needed to kill some vils so... He then resigns... Boring. Another game 1v1 I decided to wall my enemy very well, to deter him from rushing me, and communicating that I wont rush him, so we both boom and have a good fight. I made 8 trebs, pikemen, gunmen and prepared for a battle at around min 30 something. I start trebing his units that were already waiting me beyond walls. As im reaching 200 pop. What he does? Resigns. Wtf. Another game, this one more interesting but still boring experience. it was ranked 4v4 arabia. I was rushed by 2 playe

2v2 ranked. I wanna try the Cumans feudal ram rush mixed either Armenians or Romans for teammate. Does anyone have any advise, build orders, or a video to link? Also is this strat frowned upon typically? Edit: 800 elo 1v1 and 1000 TG

for fast castles (RE: phosporu), why do so many builds make you go so many vills on stone just to sell stone to go castle, why not mine gold till 200-250 gold, then move those vills to stone?

Many of the campaigns, from Age of Kings to The Last Chieftans are excellent scenarios reflecting historical battles (sometimes not that accurately) in a range of gameplay. However, there may be something in regards to a scenario that you may feel is not quite right. Is it gameplay or historical accuracy? I have been playing since last two years and enjoy game as is. And I play mostly for fun. I’ve been at around 800 elo. I wonder How high can I go with limited mechanics.

(AoE2 DE) The 'Record Campaign Games' box is checked in settings and the game does produce replay files of my SP scenario games. However, I can't seem to get it to record a full game, from start to end. If I save my game, it starts a new recording, showing up as a separate file in 'Replays'. Viewing this file will begin the replay at the point I saved (and the previous replay will end at that point). At first I thought this may be because I was making multiple save files for the same campaign scenario, and so stuck to one as a test - but this didn't fix the issue. I presume if I were to play a campaign scenario in one go, without saving, the game would save a single unbroken replay: but I haven't tested this. I don't seem to have this issue with skirmishes against the AI, but I haven't tested extensively. Any solution to this?
