So here are some recurring things I see in high-level (2K+ rating) KT players do that I just don’t understand. Can someone please explain these to me? I feel like I have completely misunderstood this faction after watching these games. Then again they usually lose so, is KT just bad? They always go hospitallers as their feudal age and then never make a single hospitaller or really make much of an attempt to heal their units all game Little or no use of cavalry, I thought KT had good cavalry? What do I mean I sometimes read people saying, „in this game it is easy to reach conqueror“. Generally that means reaching conqueror from a skill level that is way below, say Platinum. „You only have to play Burgrave-Rush / English FC 2 TC / …“ This comes either - rather untethered to the surrounding conversation (then I have the suspicion that sb. Just wants to brag, especially with an introduction like "I don't get how people are unable to reach conqueror) or it comes - as an answer to people complaining being stuck at a certain level. Then it is like: Just do that and then you get a higher rank cause people at your rank don't know how to deal with it. I disagree in 2 ways: on the merits and on the practical meaning of the statement. On the merits: I don’t think it is that easy to perfectly execute a strat because you have to adjust so many little details: regarding spawn of resources, opponents etc., unexpected moves from the opponent and other real-time factors. I also think that while it may be possible to climb up to conq it is only possible when you happen to play consistently against people who fail at reacting to your strat. As you climb that gets harder and harder. So at least people should say: You play just this one strat and then you have to be very very lucky which opponents you are playing. On the practical meaning: What is the benefit of playing a certain strat just to climb rank? You don’t necessarily get better as a player. I (and I think many people) want both: getting better at the game and of course seeing that progress manifest itself in a higher rank. This is the reassuring, satisfying and straight-up addicting feedback-loop that video games excel in. I play Otto and Mali (yeah op i know) – I don’t wanna play HRE Burgrave Rush or what have you. I wanna get better with the civs I like. And additionally to that: If everything goes right you’re then conqueror but the one strat you can play leaves you completely unprepared to compete on this level

Especially in 4vs4 you get raided by 2-3 civs and since you dont know your team they will ignore you or don't know how to react (poor communication) 2vs2 is nice but you're playing against a duo of two players who know each other.. very well.. Time to separate group teams and solo Q players maybe or let's keep it that way so that the waiting time is not too long. Farwell team games, until I find someone to play with 🥴

Those elephants are so bad, they cost more than twice the price of regular Springalds while having no concrete advantage over them. It's even worse, considering that they're weak to Spearmen, but also Horsemen cause they're siege, and Crossbows cause they're heavy. What the fuck are you supposed to do with them? Against mass Spearmen, a few Springalds is a very cost-efficient solution. For Tughlaq, Ballista Elephants is a death trap, unfortunately, when you play Tughlaq, you see Spearmen every match. Some slight change, like cheaper by 50 - 100 resources, would probably balance it out.

Currently climbing through gold with a ~54% wr. I play a lot of Rus fast castle and Tughlaq fuedal all in fort rush. Let's say I go into all of my games with either of these two strategies. What should I be looking for with Rus to decide "FC and beating them to the relics is the wrong play here." I typically find that I'm not successful when I harass with knights in fuedal age. Same with Tughlaq. I have much more success dropping a fort with warriors next to their most exposed resource and basically starting a proxy base next to it and going fuedal all in. I have no idea what to look for that would tell me something like "Set up defensively and boom" or "use forts for map control but don't be so aggressive"

Hey all, Me and a mate are looking for a 3rd player to join us for ranked 3v3. We’re both pretty consistently around Gold 3 / Plat 1, and are looking for someone around a similar level. We’re not hardcore players with loads of time to grind — usually we manage 2–3 sessions a week, around 2 hours each. The main thing we’re looking for is someone who: - Wants to play ranked 3v3 and improve/win, but without taking it too seriously - Is roughly Gold/Plat level (or thereabouts) - Is chill and doesn’t get drawn into toxic chat / raging - Is happy to communicate and play as a team We recently lost our previous 3rd because they were bringing a bit too much drama/toxicity into the games, so we’re basically looking for someone who wants to have a laugh, play some competitive games and not make it miserable when things go wrong If that sounds like your kind of thing, drop a comment or DM me and we can jump into a few games. This really seems like the most balanced pub meta in the last 12 months at least, by both stats and vibes: Every single civ at Dia+ has a winrate within 50 +/- 5%. 11 civs at >50% is the most ever, as far as I can tell. 11 civs are within +/- 1% as well, including all the high pickrate noob fare (French, English, OotD etc). The top civ is only +3%, the lowest peak since May '25. Spear brace has done its job, the full cav meta has abated without being nerfed into oblivion. The civ that everyone complains about (ZXL) is apparently.... 3rd? And barely +2%? (Meanwhile Macedon is quietly still S-tier for like the 10th month running, but nobody seems to even care anymore so whatever) The top half of the table has a bunch of civs that are supposedly weak (KT, Tugh, Jin etc) Conversely, the bottom-feeders* are all still not-so-secretly OP (Otto, Byz, China) (*Ignoring goku, who can stay in jail forever as far as I'm concerned) KT is a legit pubstomper, the people rejoice! Reddit is even complaining about France again, which is my personal shibboleth for the game being in a good place. The peasants are no longer distracted from expressing their natural hatred of knights. All is as it should be. idk, it just seems... good? I really hope the devs go light this time.

All in the title tbh, the level of chinese player these days is relentless and touch bottom. Would not it be better to let them play together for sake of being able to communicate? Team ranked wise No hate intended

Meinwerk and Aachen both get rated as A-tier. Swabia as S-tier. Elzbach as A-tier. But he rates: Burgrave as S-tier and Regnitz as A-tier. I agree that Burgrave is better than Regnitz. Burgrave is much more reliable since it provides tempo, helps secure relics, gives an early powerspike and provides charge bonus increase (even though that effect is overrated in my opinion). But what I do not agree with is him rating Burgrave as an S-tier landmark. It is a good reliable landmark that is a go-to landmark even in a non-cheese situation since Regnitz is very unreliable. But I would not rate it S-tier. Then again, I am no pro player so maybe I am missing something.

A while back I posed the question "Why is 2TC the go to on KT" and i got answers like "It makes up for the vil loss", "Their TC comes up really fast", "They are really good at chopping wood" but these answers didn't makes a lot of sense when you looked at the math as in most cases pilgrims just performed better in most cases. Yet when I played 2TC KT i couldn't help but notice it did feel really good and that's when it clicked. KT as a civ has very few eco bouses and the civ has below average resource generation however this is balanced by a powerful military that is not only flexible and able to make use of a very diverse roster to produce the perfect answer to any army but also just units that punch above their weight class in general. This means while you may not be bringing the raw resource of a civ like China or HRE you are getting more bang for you buck and this is why scaling eco despite it looking poor on paper actually performs really well. This in conjunction answered another question that has always bothered me which is "Why does Abbasid feel weak?" On paper Abbasid looks kind of nutty with steep discounts and a myriad of powerful eco bonuses. However unlike civs like KT or Macedonia they do not have particularly powerful things to spend those resources on. Same can be said for HRE who have a very generic military with few military bonuses. China is a good antithesis to HRE and Abbasid as China also has a really powerful economy but a rather generic military with few military bonuses. The big difference is that China has a powerful production bonus unlike the other two which allows them to take advantage of their large resource income and convert it in to a powerful military. Its easy to get sucked into looking at a civs eco without thinking about the other just as important other side which is does the civ provide good option on how to spend the resources?
