I’ve played a bit of Abbasids, Rus, French, HRE and Byzantine. It feels like the effort required to unlock each civilization's bonuses is not equal. With Abbasids i have to build only 10 buildings to get 22,5% bonus on all resources everywhere. With Rus I have to reach 1,000 bounty before getting the max food bonus, with french i need to go castle and then build a keep to get a discount, with byzantines require significant effort to set up five cisterns and i need to keep the villagers inside the aura for the bonus. What am i missing here?

Hey first time modding this game and i making a tuning pack. short about my modpack, i have only change the cost of some units and health on some units and building, Like villager, archers, monk and defense wall, keeps outpost, and town centers. But when i try to test it the hp and cost gets applied (from what i have change) but the buildings (like the starter town center) and starter villagers are invisible. Happens when i create archers as well Im lowkey getting mad bc i have been trying to google a fix but i dont where to look for. I hope yall have some suggestions on this issue. I dont get any errors from my xml or when i build my mod. (this is ofc in aoe4)

Hey all, I'm looking for some resources to help me learn more about the game. My resume includes experience in SC2 coop, knowledge of control groups, beating hard AI (working in hardest!), and learning that HRE rely heavily on relics from an arbitrary Valdy video I found last night. I was planning on looking into more of Valdys channel tonight, but was also wondering if y'all had any other content creators/websites for people basically brand new to RTS/AOE as a whole? Posting this on lunch at work so unfortunately I won't be able to follow this post until I get home.

The civ plays well into castle and early imperial, but after that it is terrible economically if the game goes for too long. The special market ability requires so much food and the food bonus you get from wood as the civ hardly covers it when you need it. Further reducing gold availability. The gold that you get from pilgrims is riskier than trade and doesn't pay out as well as real trade even when having it earlier on. If you choose an age 4 commandery that isn't for trade, then you just automatically have a bad economy if the game goes on for longer than it should. You shouldn't be forced to choose the trade commandery to predict longer games. If you choose a different commandery and the game somehow goes slightly longer, then you're just at a disadvantage. If the food bonus from wood was slightly better it could fix this issue with the market ability to make up for this. Or just give the civ trade like everyone else and/or still give it special traders from the commandery if you choose it. I have around 1200 games or more with Knights Templar and have only played that since it's release, so I have a better feel and understanding of it's economy than anyone else most likely.

I know there's a much easier solution by discord but unfortunately it's banned in my country so, I am an average hihg gold player highest platinum one and I haven't played the game in a while as an xbox player so would appreciate anyone who would wanna be tm8s and get to know each other

Hi! Quick question - I like to play 2v2v2v2 nomad ffa on megarandom maps but (unlike ffa in quick match) the custom games I create never have any points of interest (trading posts, ronin house, etc.) Why is that the case? Is it possible to force them to be present?

As a preface, this is a genuine question, and I'm not trying to suggest any changes or anything, but rather learn more about what makes the civilization good, as it is my favorite one to play and I want to get the most from it. In tier lists from professional players, China is generally highly regarded ( Beasty - S tier , Valdy - A tier , Corvinus - S tier , Vortix - S tier , GiveUAnxiety - A tier ). In terms of their performance in games though, I don't really see their high ratings reflected in their game outcomes. Currently on the ladder in conqueror, China the second lowest win rate at 46.1% ( source ). The argument I have heard to justify this is that is it very hard, so for the most part it is professional players that can bring out its potential. Intuitively this makes sense to me, but when looking at professional statistics, it still seems to perform average or below average. So far in Elite Classic IV it has a 40.6% win rate with 32 picks ( source ). In the Homestead Cup, it had a 50% win rate with 6 picks ( source ). I cannot find other recent S tier tournaments involving China, but if we delve into A tier, in Epohers World Cup 2 it has a win rate of 50% with 2 picks ( source ). Obviously the sample size of these tournaments is so small that they aren't a reasonable source for statistics, but when compared to other highly rated civilizations like Malians or Ottomans, which have higher win rates by quite a bit (not Ottomans in ladder, but professional), China doesn't seem to perform as well as its reputation would make me think it should. So essentially, could someone elaborate on what makes China rated so highly? I am a new player, and only platinum, but the things that make me enjoy the civilization primarily revolve around the flexibility granted by IO's (switching unit comps quickly with supervision of production, very nice economy, etc) as well as the bonus landmarks / dynasty bonuses.

I get that FFA teaming is hated as much as hacking, but feel like people have different definitions of teaming. There’s a sliding scale of it. If someone built a wonder or has sacred sites, it’s very normal for the whole lobby to gang up on them. If someone is noticeably strong it’s also accepted for people to type in chat “X player is strongest, they have trade, we should fight him together”. But the further we go the more people tend to get salty. Sometimes I will see another player is getting pummelled, and I might say “I will come rescue you” in All chat. The reason I do this is not because I’m magnanimous, but because I realise if the strong player beats my weak neighbour, I’m probably next. Having a weak player surviving as a “buffer zone” lets me eco boom while they waste resources fighting each other. I also don’t like the early game melee chaos, so in FFA nomad if I see my starting location is too close to another player I just say “I will move my villa and build landmark somewhere else”. Two players wasting time murdering each other in feudal usually lose to people who had space and boomed into Castle/Imp. There’s also cases where two players are just passive turtles that just don’t have a reason to attack each other. Or sometimes if one player’s base is being attacked they take all their villagers and flee into another player’s corner - I usually let people live on as a rump state if they do this. If this happened usually their new neighbours can crush them at will, so the refugee player often tries to suck up to their new overlord. I’ve also seen some cases where someone types in Chinese “我们现打老外” (let’s beat the foreigners first). This one feels a kinda scummy, but it’s hilarious when everyone in the chat then responds in Chinese “好啊” (sure) and we all realise that everyone is secretly Chinese.
