Age of Empires IV has been my home for years. So with a heavy heart I'll have to admit that it feels like we got left behind. Four year old game might as well be a millenia in AI advancement and it shows. Look im not here to serenade anyone but there are some very low hanging fruit we should just take! For once, the UI still behaves like it’s afraid of helping me. Meanwhile, elsewhere in gaming, AI is doing everything short of making your coffee, smart prompts and UI components that lead your eyes to the important bits. No attack ping *but only 15 seconds after the knight started murdering everyone*. I swear, half these missing features could be hacked together by Claude and myself before I finish my first cup of coffee. Time for the most glaring thing. The AI opponents. They are the part that really gets under my skin. Even after hundreds of hours of battling me, they don’t learn , they don’t adapt, they don’t even pretend to understand what I’m doing — they just cheat! with the enthusiasm of a modern government. I want an opponent that actually watches my build order, predicts my nonsense, and acts on information that it aquired from actual game mechanics rather than gods eye. Smart replay analysis functions anyone. Though I'd settle for scrolling to the replay however I please for now. I want a UI that doesn’t hide crucial information behind three layers of menus, but instead use simple intelligence like this to nudge me when I’m floating 3,000 gold like a confused feudal banker. And don’t even get me started on monetization. Seriously, Dont. An ingame shop is so trivial to prompt it hurts. I could prototype half of this half drunk on 2000 tokens and a questionable amount of confidence. We could have AI‑driven learning tools, dynamic patch notes, smarter eco management, the works. — but instead it feels like the villagers are more advanced than the code running them, and that’s not something I should be able to say with a straight face. I don't really know all stats and numbers but in battle this billmen upgrade makes so much difference when you are fighting against armored units. Today I barely won a match against the Macedonian dynasty. He raided me so well that I thought that it was ggez for him but my army with yomen and spearmen, lords, hobelars and 2 Rams just annihilated his archer, waragian guard and spear combo like butter. And he tapped out because he lost all his eco in the amount of seconds. You can tell me that I'm wrong but playing Lancaster feudal aggro is perfect but sometimes messy.

A few days ago I posted a screen shot of a team of players clearly gaming the ranked system to boost their friends account to 3k elo in team games. I was advised to notify the support page. On the support page I provided the instance, my steam ID a screen shot of the players cheating and context in the body. I assumed that would be enough for the support team to do their jobs. Look up these players, see their match history and hand out the appropriate bans. Instead what I got back from the age of empires support team, in my opinion is for me to do their job for them. This is the extensive amount of information they wanted me to provide: Thanks for reaching out to us regarding this behavior you encountered in Age of Empires IV. To help us look further into this issue can you please provide us with the following required information? · Your Steam ID, Xbox gamertag, or PSN username. · The Steam ID, Xbox gamertag, or PSN username for the offending players. · The approximate time and date of the match along with your time zone. Additionally, please provide us with any of the following files if possible which will help in our investigation: · Replay files or video links which show the offending behavior, as well as the approximate time in which the behavior occurs. · Screenshots of the offending behavior. Once this information has been provided we will be able to investigate this issue further. For context in the reddit post I made with just the screen shot of the game, this reddit within minutes was able to look up each player and clearly see that the low elo players were quitting games in the first few minutes to lower their elo. Age of empires support wants you to do the entire investigation for them when really the responsibility is on them to maintain the integrity of the game not me.

Sometimes i play a nice game and i’d like to watch the replay but it does not appear in the history. It has happened to me quite a few times. I’ve reported it once but i never got any response (as I never do for any of the reports i do for this game). Has this happened to you?

Hey everyone, A while ago I shared the AoE4 companion app we've been working on, and a lot of you actually gave it a shot. I genuinely didn't expect that, and the comments/DMs we got back were more useful than anything we could have come up with on our own. So before anything else: thank you. Really. It's been a few days and quite a bit has changed, so I figured I'd come back and share what we've been up to rather than just quietly shipping things. What's new since last time: - Detailed post-game stat graphs — resource, army, score curves over the course of the match, so you can actually see where a game turned instead of guessing - Draft (ban/pick) — civ drafting for tournaments, clan games, or just messing around with friends - Meta statistics — civ winrates, matchups, how the ladder actually looks right now - Updated guide content — civs, units, buildings, techs all refreshed and expanded - A social screen — streamers and content creators can put themselves in front of the community here; if you stream AoE4, you can show up on it - A coaching system — you can apply to be listed as a coach, and if you want to actually get better with someone's help, you can apply to train with an active coach - 8 languages — EN, TR, NL, FR, DE, PL, PT, ES Also worth saying clearly since it comes up every time: the app is completely free. The only thing behind a subscription is the AI features that explain your matches to you in plain language. Everything else — stats, guides, draft, meta, match history — is just free. The response so far has honestly been better than we hoped, not just from the community here but from streamers and some pretty well-known players too, and that's a big part of why we kept going. That said, we don't think we're anywhere near done. After years of quitting the age of empires, decided to back in with AOE 4 - But i fell I'm lost in the mess of the game. Is there a starter pack guide for this game to bring back my memory ? As old school there where forums for this :D Thanks in advance

Since a couple of month, aoe4 team decided to block handheld user from playing online with more than 2v2 That’s a shame because it used to work perfectly with my Xbox Rog Ally X I understand that some less powerful handheld could cause some problems on multiplayer game with more than 4 people playing But it should not be possible to pay for a game, liking it and playing it a lot with a full version and then download a obligatory patch that gives u a less powerful game I’ve send two emails to the support, but every time their only response is saying they can’t say nothing about this issues Maybe if more people sent an email to the support regarding the same issues, that could make them change their mind Hope this messages reaches some fellows handheld gamer ! My view on FFA dynamics In FFA it is commonly known that early aggro holds high potential to greatly diminish your chances of a win in the end. Military advantage in the early to mid game gets beaten by a strong economic basis in the long run. That said sometimes you are forced to play aggressive very early because of a very close neighbour, because your ressources are blocked by another player or because you are surrounded by multiple enemies. The more knowledge you can gather about the enemies close by, the better. Suitable knowledge would be where all other players are (maybe someone is close to you but others are even closer to them), what their gamplan is (e.g. do they prepare for aggro or eco), what your options to retreat are, and many more. That way you can find the sweepspot between investments in your eco vs investments in your aggro or defense. Most of the times you do not have all of the information you would want or need, so you have to judge your decisionmaking but what you know and what you are capable of pulling off. I am interested in your assessment of a recent example of mine where I think I did quite well in an unwinnable game. Some people involved think I did poorly, so I am sincerely interested and want to improve. Example In the following example I tried to make the best out of my position but got beaten eventually and I am very interested in your ideas and thoughts on how to improve or what to do better (besides clicking faster). I like to get my coffee and watch 40+ minutes long online multiplayer games from time to time. But I cannot view any of them recently. There were tens of them. I checked the filters, refreshed it... but still there is no any... Why? NOTE: I'm not currently subscribed to game pass. Could it be the reason? I could be an observer despite not having the subscription. Has it changed?

I really think we need a “Select All Cavalry Except Scouts” toggle/button somewhere. Right now, if I send a scout off to do its job and then want to harass somewhere else with my horsie-boys, hitting Select All Cavalry also grabs the scout. So I either have to: Deselect the scout unit type first, or Accidentally cancel whatever my scout was already doing. A simple feature for this toggle/button would be a great QoL improvement IMHO.

Recently, i played in a 2v2 ranked as Tughlaq, my ally Macedonian, and then our enemies two Byzantines. They failed with a full frontal assault and I was able to amass a decent force of raider elephants in the castle age. The enemies were actually in Imperial and ahead of me. But I swung all the way around the map, knocked out multiple groups of stone and gold minors and houses, back and forth, and then retreated and healed thanks to Tughlaq automated healing technology. After a few go arounds I noticed that they’d made stone walls. I thought, shoot- I have to go get a ram. Then, much to my shock, I noticed an attack option was available on the wall. So yep, I tore down those walls with my raider elephants, wrecked buildings, back and forth, wasted a lot of resources. Using these hit and run and precise microing, it’s really hard for an opponent to counter effectively at their base because elephants are so fast and they can heal. So, if you’re in a team game and your allies are going at it in a main front, run all the way around the map and open up a second front and your enemies will absolutely be punching the air. Well, that’s your tip of the day. Enjoy!

I’m not sure what is going on, but I try Chinese and Japanese, both don’t let me make troops.i can’t make siege stuff as well. BUT I can make villager, I also delete stable and rebuild somewhere else. Still same thing ! I try new game so many times, I play with my partner , we start new game every time and it’s always somehow end up like this ? NO MOD. Do any of you guys know why is this ? Please help ! Us two play again 6 AI , two PC.
