Did Age of Empires 3 DE team bring back icons from previous DLCs with the new update? I noticed them in open beta and also found this information in age of empires fandom wiki about beta patch (Baltic Powers). I lost these icons somewehe in 2024 when i unintalled the game when previous beta patch was stiil active (i don’t unchecked this patch before unistalling the game) and i think and it will be nice to have these icons back this way if possible.

Hello everyone. I might be biased because I prefer non-European style civs but hear me out. The time needed for a Heavy Cannon/Rocket/Great Bombard to spawn is not fair. There are plenty of civs who can’t keep up with the heavy artillery production and this is quite annoying in 1v1. It should be nerfed because players really abuse this. 2 Factories on cannon spam win a lot of games against civs that don’t have this feature…

Random idea I had today. I'm not a good player (yet, at least) by any means, so take this with a grain of salt. But, all native civs in the game right now have access to a 2 War Huts card in Age 2, and a few of the European ones have the infinite 2 Outpost card, so I find it really odd that both of Russia's 2 Blockhouse cards are in Age 3. Even the Asian/African civs can ship a Castle/Palace in Age 2. The Russian-American company card would most likely be too op to be in Age 2, due to the hunt gathering bonus, so the other option would be Detinets. Of course, this would come with removing the part where it automatically researches the Frontier Blockhouses upgrade, but I believe that's perfectly fine, as that upgrade doesn't even increase the health of Blockhouses, only their attack, making it quite unimpactful. I believe that this can be a reasonably impactful buff to the civ, as it would improve both their offensive and defensive playstyle, just like how the 2 War Huts cards do it. Curious to hear people's thoughts on this and I hope that someone from the dev team gets to read this at some point and at least consider it! Thanks!

Hey folks, I have played for years but I am an average Elo player (1100-1200). I play to mess around and try things, most of the time. Is it me or does the “low Elo” range have a lot of immature behavior? So many people just want to trash talk after winning or have some kind of meltdown after losing. Do better players have some perspective compared to these 🤡🤡🤡?

I am aware of the tiny buffs Inca received in beta patch but sadly those aren’t enough to save this civ… This civ has nothing outside the Imperial Unity FF, which isn’t even great… Incan units are terrible and their eco can’t even compensate this. Inca has no busted Church card, has no promoting unit, can’t get any trainable good mercenary unit via card and doesn’t even get cannons anymore if it goes Tupac Rebellion. They can’t even chase Goons… You are forced to always go 4 types of units in order to have a chance while others go 2 or 3. Now look at this… Triple carded Incan unit vs double carded Crossbowmen. I believe the Crossbowmen misses the age III card. Veteran units are age III.

I imagine we all remember the events leading up to the DLC’s release. Taking that into account, would you say the DLC and the Patch constitute an adequate apology? For those who were not involved in the events prior to the DLC, allow me to give a summary. For quite some time the community suffered from a systematic omission in events, competitions and advertising. This generated great discontent, which, added to the lack of communication and transparency, caused enormous dissatisfaction and several bans, some justified and others not so much. This ended with the community completely furious and divided; some felt this was partly the community’s responsibility, others blamed the developers, and a few felt the blame lay with one company or another. The truth is that this ended with the community frustrated, angry, and with a general pessimism. This question is for everyone, but especially for those most affected by that dark chapter in this forum’s history. Are this DLC and its patch a sufficient apology? Would you say the DLC and patch are an adequate apology? (Yes, it is, and I forgive what has happened so far) (No, I don’t think this is an adequate apology) (It depends; it’s only an adequate apology if the game is going to receive more content and patches in the future) 0 voters Extra option. Note to French-speaking readers: If you find other mistranslations in the French version of the game, please feel free to add your part to this thread. (Same thing if you find mistakes in my own report.) I will try to keep this post up to date with any new finds/updates. Now, an explanatory introduction as to why make an attempt at a comprehensive list of current mistranslations : Given the sheer text size the game has (and, I suppose, the lack of in-game & historical contexts the translators must work with), it is normal to expect a few goofy mistakes here and there. The French localisation has carried a few of those for some time now, plus a few other mistranslations that are more critical in nature and actually are a hindrance to the game’s accessibility. With a new patch coming soon, I thought it was due time all the community we could find, in the hope that someone may fix it before the game’s support ends once and for all. (I doubt there’s even half a day’s work even for an intern in all this. It’s a simple search-and-replace work in the game’s French localisation file (Except for the case of armor/resistance details formulas)) Where relevant, I added the string IDs to better reference the actual stringtables the game uses (although a simpler “search-and-replace” of the lines will work even better for most of what I found IMO). I also had a pass over the Baltic Beta content, but this report taking so long to actually put together in a comprehensive and well-organised manner (I’ve been at it since the beginning of this week), the Beta is now over and the Beta forum is closed. I still included my notes in the hopes someone will correct it before its official release, because the French translation of the Baltic Beta content is worse than the rest of the game by a long mile . At the very least, it clearly was neither done nor proofread by a native speaker and it shows. (Most probably done by AI, I suppose). I must stress this : some errors are simple mistakes tha

I dont know about you, but I don’t mind when devs re-utilice AoE2 voicelines, infact, I do quite like it since its my second favorite AoE, but if there is one thing that I dont like is when more than 2 units use the same voicelines. So here I have some easy to implement ideas to improve this situation. Hospitaler: I suggest him to have the AoE2 sicillian voicelines to add more personality to the unit (and also the doppelsoldner voice lines are used by 3 units, wich are him, the doppelsodner and the new teutonic order musketeer, but i also dont like it because the hospitaller is a another heavy infantry unit with a sword just like the doppelsodner). The sicillian voicelines could also be a nod to the fact not only malta is quite close to sicilly but that the order historically recieved a lot of support and influence from the sicillian kingdom. (little sidenote: I actually had this idea since the release of the knights of the mediterranean dlc, but I was so shy back then that I didnt share this little idea for the hospitaller ) *USA: Right now this civ reutilices quite a lot of voicelines and it feels weird but i have a solution that is quite easy to do Owlhoots: they should use old legacy english speaking chayton voicelines Minutemen: Right now he uses john black voicelines which are also used by the Regular, my idea is that the regular should keep them while the minutemen can have Nathaniel Black voicelines State Militia: He should have some other voice than the one’s that the Sharpshooter uses, so why not using old Custer voicelines , (which are used by some units like the cavalry and the artillery in the Battle for Orleans Historical Battle) USA REV Sharpshooter: He uses the same voice line’s that the state militia uses (wich he also shares with the sharpshooter but with the pitch increased) my idea is for him to have the new chayton black voicelines Cranequier: I suggest that he should use the burgundian voicelines from aoe2 as the unit itself is quite archaic an

GAME INFORMATION GAME BUILD v. 100.19.17293.0 P1 ( also very prevalent in both public Batlic Beta Builds ) GAME PLATFORM: Steam OPERATING SYSTEM: Windows 10 ISSUE EXPERIENCED To put it simply : The French translation of the term “Skirmisher” uses 3 separate terms in no consistent fashion , throwing confusion on what some units are and to whom some effects apply. One of these “French” terms is even a word… that is no longer commonly in use in modern French, and the other means something entirely different than Skirmisher! With the upcoming DLC and patches, I hope it will finally be time to tackle and, hopefully, solve the issue once and for all. Why tackle it? It is INCREDIBLY CONFUSING as to what means what, especially for newcomers . (And is quite frustrating when you’ve noticed it too.) These three terms are “ Belliciste ” (used in the original game to refer to the unit), “ Tirailleur ” (had less than half occurences in the pre-DE game) and finally “ Escarmoucheur ” which is rarely used but has become more and more prevalent in the DE era ( especially in the upcoming Batlic DLC). Sometimes, the terms are used interchangeably in the same sentence . You can compare the Royal Jaeger/Hunter description in both English and French : royal_jaeger_comparison 1224×442 105 KB I think one can easily understand how confusing it becomes… with a third term being thrown into the mix as well. To add other examples, the short description of some skirmisher-type units (that appears when hovering over the unit in-game), like the Neftenya, aptly states “Skirmisher” in English as to remind a player unfamiliar with Ethiopia that this unit, while name differently, is a Skirmisher for all intents and purposes. Yet, in French, it says “Tirailleur”… which is not used as the Skirmisher unit’s name ! I am so sick of watching my AI ally just sit there with a huge army doing nothing while the enemy gang up on me and demolish me. The worst part is when it’s the enemies the come to each other’s aid, so why are they specifically programmed to ignore when a player ally gets attacked?

Hi there! I loved the New portuguese Elmetti, but I have some ideas that could improve him Riders skin: I like this unit and specially the portuguese themed shield he has, but the rider is identical to the elmetti’s (except for the horse, wich I think its from the scrapped guard elmetto(which is lovely). My idea is to change the rider to the cut unupgraded elmetti. New Acorbetado Rider (unused unupgraded elmetti) 258×432 26 KB this one right here Voicelines: He uses the Elmetti voicelines wich are in italian, so obviously that is quite wrong, my idea, since he is knight is that The Acorbetado should use AoE2 military Portuguese voicelines (maybe mixed with some of the regent, since are done by the same VA, but i dont know)

I had originally posted a lot of this in the map part of the beta forum, but barely anyone looked at that section to give feedback. The maps being accessible may not have been intentional so hopefully these are not the final version, but what was in the beta was very concerning. A lot of these maps, especially the treeless arctic and north sea ones are very rough in both visuals and how they play. Some more creativity to make them have a more standard design that doesn’t rely on janky resource work arounds would go a long way to fixing them. Having a single map with a scarcity of wood and a unique way to get it is an interesting novelty, but when there are half a dozen of them with compromised playability it’s a problem. Out of Place and Overused Timber Importers Timber Importers are a last resort to address this, and feel like more of a cop out than a solution. These log cabins with a lumberjack look like they fit into a woodland clearing. On desolate treeless islands they are jarringly out of place. If these are supposed to be a supplement because the maps don’t have trees, why is the guy literally chopping down a tree? The lighthouses are neat, but any more that one per team is redundant, so they could also be fewer in number to make room for more actual treasures. Obviously there needs to be something on the map to push out to and control, but logically you only need one entrepôt to get the stuff. Controlling more than a couple of them is a little nonsensical. The map control aspect of these is also not as meaningful as standard resources since they don’t actually need to be gathered. If anyone was wondering, I combed through every card and tech presented here with wiki as cross-reference and used in-game testing on the few occassions I needed to confirm the behavior of a tech and it wasn't listed on the wiki (or was out-of-date). I was also largely motivated to help folks prepare for participation in the Sunbros Independence Mode tournament slated to begin upon release of the DLC next month. AZTECS Technologies & Bonuses Coyote Runners can use Stealth Mode . Coyote Runners, Otontin Slingers, and Puma Spearmen deal +0.5× damage vs. Villagers . Fortification — Build limit +50% for War Huts, Nobles' Huts, and possibly American Citadels. American Citadel can be built in Age 3 and can train Skull Knights . Saw several posts about Southeast Asia DLC, would Baan used by Siam be just a regular House share across civs that use this architecture set, cost 100 wood and house 10 pops? Siamese Baan is just a wooden house built on stilts to avoid flooding in monsoon seasons, no special quirk. Water buffaloes are housed in Kork which could be a reskin Livestock Pen and buffaloes can work on rice paddies by default without a card.
