The Jin Dynasty’s military buildings are nearly twice as large (16 tiles) as those of other civilizations, making the base significantly larger and relatively difficult to defend. This necessitates constructing more towers or surrounding the base with walls. Defense is further hampered by the fact that Jin’s early military units are neither suitable nor strong for defense. To make matters worse, Grasslands lots are assigned to random areas around landmarks; if they are placed in an odd location, the base can become very inefficient to defend. This is particularly problematic given that it is advantageous to build military buildings in the vicinity of these areas. Some landmarks do not harmonize well with the random placement of Grasslands, such as Pagoda Forest and Mountain Hall. If Grasslands are nearby, these buildings may actually be hindered and unable to function properly. It would be better if Grasslands could be built anywhere and limited to one per era, similar to the Malians’ pit mine construction limit.

There is a major exploit/bug involving the Shaman and the Relic Ovoo . If a Shaman is killed while in the process of placing a Relic into an Ovoo , the Relic drops on the ground, but the “Relic Ovoo” is still successfully created/maintained. This allows the player to pick up the dropped Relic and repeat the process indefinitely to stack multiple Relic effects or generate infinite resources/buffs. ：-（ “Honestly, why does the Golden Horde have so many non-stop bugs? I’ve already submitted three major bug reports today alone. Any chance I can apply for a dev position? I’d really love to see firsthand just how ‘difficult’ this code is to maintain. With Jin dynasty you often want to control the knights and the ranged cavalry at the same time. Unfortunately there exists only one hotkey for select all cavalry on screen that contains both of them. Since I want to use them as archers, that makes this civ borderline unplayable if you rely on those hotkeys instead of control groups for army management. Please add the option for this.

Build Number: 16.1.9737.0 Platform: Steam Operating System: Windows 11 / Linux Issue: Since I installed the Yue Fei’s Legacy DLC, AOE IV can no longer connect to the server to play online. The connection icon is crossed out and hovering over it displays a message telling me to go to the notification panel to reconnect. However, the notification panel is empty. Yesterday I uninstalled and reinstalled the game and it worked — at least until the match started freezing after about 1 hour of gameplay. Today I launched the game again and same problem, no connection. What should I do? The problem is not coming from my PC since my wife is experiencing the same issue on her computer. We played together yesterday and she had no trouble apart from the shared freeze at the end of the match. Today her AOE IV won’t connect either. I ran a Steam file integrity check: OK My specs: Intel Core i9 12900KF, 32GB DDR5, 1TB NVMe SSD, GeForce 5060Ti Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you in advance.

With 3600 battles under my belt in 4x4 QM, I want to talk about the 5 types of players I most “enjoy”. Disclaimer: This topic is specifically related to 4x4 QM battles, written by a noob for other noobs. Englishman on top of the castle wall. This player is a classic! He generally doesn’t like to explore the map. He creates a city with walls and castles. Then he makes an army exclusively of archers and places them on top of the stone wall. Then he waits… he waits for several minutes while his team faces a 3v4 battle. After his team is decimated, he has his moment of glory! Defending his castle with the archers on top of the wall, facing 4 players in the late game. And he fights until his city is completely burned and destroyed! He’s simply a classic! The traffic cone. This player functions like this… he plays completely disconnected from what’s happening around him. He doesn’t build a good economy, nor a good army. At the same time, he doesn’t fight. So he’s participating, but not actively. What he does is consume the team’s valuable resources like hunting, gold, stone, wood… but he doesn’t take any action. Basically, he doesn’t build a good military or a good economy, and his passive behavior burdens the other players. The guy who always finishes everything in 5 minutes. This type… is probably from the family of chivalric civilizations.Cavalry players, or those who are very aggressive, have a shorter gameplay time and strategy than most. They try to finish games with a few cavalry maneuvers that put the enemy’s economy and army in check, between the Feudal and Castle eras. The problem with this type of player is that they rush the game and sometimes don’t understand the team dynamics, which sometimes need a few more minutes to consolidate a military economic advantage. They tend to give up on games when they feel frustrated in their lightning campaigns, and this ends up being a strategic mistake. It’s very common in 4v4 matches.
