My brother and I are playing an AOE2 tournament with every civ, and tomorrow I'm playing with the Portuguese, and he's the Mongols. Regiside, 30-min treaty, only way to win is by killing the king (No relics or wonders), coastal map. I tend to be better at naval conquest and securing the sea than he is. However im not great with gunpowder civs, and on the whole, the cheaper quick civs seem to be doing better than the late game civs. Earlier, I was playing with the Teutons, and he was the Magyars, and he ended up winning because he was able to just harass me the whole time. Any tips or suggestions would be appreciated.
