Got AOE 2 Def edition as a gift at Xmas, finally have beaten all the campaigns. Wanted to try MP and it seems to only run at about twice the speed I am used to resulting in several losses as I cannot keep up with micro, base building etc at these speeds. Is there a way to que for games at the normal game speed setting?

Without being able to shut them down in feudal, temple guard + guecha is the most broken thing ever...can't shoot them, can't cav them, can kinda infantry them but they'll switch to slingers. If the game gets to imp it's completely cooked The saving grace is they're stubby on range but guecha move as fast as a ghulam, and with 5 pierce armour and 115hp temple guard don't give too much of a shit to run at you. You spend most of your time kiting and losing ground

As of right now the Muiscas Guecha warrior is in a pretty bad spot. For 50wood and 60 gold it’s very expensive and therefore beats almost nothing cost effectively. I would propose that Guecha warriors benefit from monastery techs. Obviously not all of them can have the same effect but I’d be thinking about something like: Sanctity: +15HP Redemption: +2 Attack vs. buildings and Siege Atonement: + 2 Attack vs. Monks Fervor: + 15% movement speed Illumination: + 50% attack speed (would be on a level with a non thumb ring archer afterwards) Herbal medicine: doubles their lifegain upon death Theocracy: The healing effect stacks Block printing: +3 Range (maybe this is excessive, but on the other hand the unit costs quite a bit. maybe loose the +1 range for Elite upgrade in return) Devotion, Faith and Heresy keep their effect This would not only fit within the “spiritual warrior” theme, but also in my opinion more interesting than straight up buffing the unit. I decided on the monk tech effect in a way that they kinda align with a similar effect for the Guecha, however on the other hand I could see them give different effects, just make you pick up some of the lesser used Monk techs, as this way, the best monk techs are also the best Guecha techs, apart from Redemption. Anyway I like this having a subpar unit, but with lots of investments it can be turned into a real powerhouse progression. At least until the latest patch Muisca didn’t have a good winrate, however since then they (+Slinger & Champi) got some buffs, so depends on where they settle now, they would need to be nerfed in other areas. However I feel like no matter what the Guecha needs more buffs regardless, because I feel like thats not good civ design, to balance a civ around their UU being useless.

Repeat two or three times - its gets worse. This also happens if the game ends early due to one team member being afk and the others resigning EXPECTED RESULT What was SUPPOSED to happen if the bug you encountered were not present? Only the quitter should get punished. Or: let people block more maps they don’t want to play, so that happens less. I hadn't played for like 2 years and wanted to check out the new infantry changes at around 1200 elo. Bought DLC and playing Armenians cuz I read they have one of the most viable infantry. I open MAA , sometimes go up to like 7-8 and maybe upgrade them to LS. This works fine but I never win the game with it and spamming more than 8 is always counterproductive. Afterwards I tried going 2handed swordsman + skirms in castle but that never works - get kited around the map and die. Even if I reach Imp I just get destroyed by siege/CA/Archers or defences + KTS. If I transition to Archers/KTS in castle things work out fine... but then the game ends before I even get to Champion. I've never actually even researched the unique Armenian tech yet in over 30 games.... On another note why don't composite bowmen destroy siege! 11 TLDR: When/how to switch to infantry play in mid/late game?

Well, I'm around 1200 - 1300 and peaked 1400, and I suck in closed maps, I'm absolutely uncomfortable playing them and if I could separate my elo for closed maps I'd be around 800. What does this mean? Well, im unevitably stomped every single time I get an arena or similar closed map, every single time my arena games usually go fc into gg as by then I've probably already lost the game. Recently, I encountered a 6 game streak for arena, in which I lost all 6 games, and that took my elo from 1230~ to 1150~, resulting in me getting matched against a 1120 elo player the next game which was on arabia, and, as expected, I absolutely stomped him, in fact, I got the same results in the next 7 games, which took me back to my original elo. The problem is that in my journey back, I ruined the game experience of 8 people that got an unfair matchmaking against someone who is way better than them, atleast in open maps, and I find this boring and I think it should be solved. Let me know what you think, sorry if the vocabulary isn't the best, English is not my first language.

It took 1:15 minutes to find a match and at 10:00 match load time I have no choice but to Alt-f4. Now I have a 20 minute ban.

You can do 24man games in WC3, 8 is pretty limited here. There are limitations ofc but none insurmountable for such a huge publisher. I'd be happy with as low as 12 like SC/AoM have. NOTE: I don't think it should be in ranked, just custom games. So lag at your own risk, crash at your own risk, etc.

Situations: - Find match => match takes >2 min because I'm in mac => before I get a match, I think i would do something else and come back in 5 min => when trying to match again, im penalized for 9 min(?) - Find match => "oh, they changed the map pool, let's cancel match finding and select the baned maps, or actually, just go to single player and test these maps" => when trying to match again, im penalized for 28 min(?) I """""""understand"""""""""" the penalty for avoiding maps by closing the game after matching or so, but this just don't make any sense, who am I hurting with these actions? These don't just affect me, but given the small pool of users already on mac, keeping people out of the pool for random reasons makes it even worse. PS: still waiting for the day we can just play arabia with players of the same level if one wants to do so, I don't care about ranking, I care about a having a competitive game in the map I like in the little time I have to play.

the meta seems to be to pronounce them kon-nicks but the proper pronunciation would be closer to coh-neek or coh-niki plural. In doing so you can clearly communicate with your team, stream, and or otherwise, that you will be sending in the 'horsies' to battle. In other news, I'm finding poles and other slav nations unplayable, as the language is to uncannily similar to the language I speak on the daily. Every time I click a unit to do anything, it's like I'm entering a polish deli and having my order taken. Anyone else experience this with a civ of their language? I mean the Britons speak English, can't understand em! Chopper. None of the peasants have a Boston or New York accent. It's hard to explain, maybe if they replaced some of the dialogue with variations of kurwa it'd be more lore friendly. On the bright side, if I were teleported back to medieval poland I'd have no issue ordering some deli.

This strategy feels like a meme but there's a lot working for it that make it feel almost pretty decent. I've won a few games with it and while it isn't top tier it still feels pretty viable. Burgundians have a lot of odd bonuses that line up strangely well for a fast Imperial The main one is the 25% damage bonus on Gunpowder. Your main fast Imp units are bombard cannons and hand cannoneers so this bonus essentially gives your entire early Imperial army a massive damage boost. It especially helps chew down high pierce armor units like Knights and Skirms that would give normally your hand cannons some trouble. Another weird interaction that can come into play is Flemish Militia: Their stats get upgraded automatically, and pack quite a punch in Imp for their cost. Their cheap cost and no unit upgrades means you can theoretically immediately start pumping them out in Imp, having them beat most Castle Age units through sheer stats, or just as support for your Hand Cannons Another small thing is the early echo techs. They let you get Double-Bit Axe and Horse Collar in Dark Age, giving you a pretty handy boost in farming which is quite important for a fast Imp. The team bonus is also not insignificant. Picking up a few relics can give you a vital eco boost during your main push due to the food bonus, and give you an edge in drawn out trash wars if it ever comes to that Probably the most major thing though is that nobody expects it. It can throw people off quite a bit and not always getting pushed early like Turks can lead to a fun surprise for the enemy Has anyone else tried this strat? Even if it isn't amazing it's still a lot of fun imo
