They mocked my Tupi pocket after the tournament, so I gave it another try in this 4v4 Rage Forest game. What followed was a maze of walls, a Petard disaster, poison archers and a push that started to feel like the Siege of Troy.

Hey everyone, I’ve been working on AoE2 RMS , a free web tool that lets you build custom random maps for Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition without touching a line of RMS code. How it works: each part of a map (player setup, land generation, terrain, objects, resources, etc.) is its own building block. You mix and match blocks from different maps to create something new, tweak resource sliders (wood, gold, fish, animals, relics) from scarce to abundant, pick your biome and start mode, and toss in extras like walls, bridges, and ruins. The tool spits out a ready-to-use .rms file — drop it into your game’s mod folder and it shows up in skirmish/single player like any other map. Two features I want to call out that just went in: Map Painter (experimental) — instead of assembling from presets, you can literally paint the map by hand on a grid (land, water, cliffs, etc.) and it converts your painting into working RMS code. Still rough around the edges, but it’s a fun way to sketch out exactly the layout you’re picturing. Architect mode — customize the architecture set of your civs, so you’re not stuck with the default building style for every matchup. It’s all free, browser-based, and the install into AoE2 DE is just three steps (copy the file into the right folder). The Basks are more distinct from the existing european civs than any other - why? All, including romans, byzantines, teutons or slavs are indo-germanic. The basques. They even had great heroes and battles: The Battles of Roncesvalles (778, 812, 824 AD): This is the ultimate Basque military achievement. In 778 AD, Basque warriors ambushed the rear guard of Charlemagne’s retreating Frankish army in a narrow mountain pass, completely annihilating Europe’s most powerful military force. They killed Charlemagne’s famous nephew, Count Roland, an event that inspired Western Europe’s oldest surviving epic poem, The Song of Roland . I think the idea of the unit is hard to balance and stay true to its original design objective: they are the ultimate hit and run unit, super weak but capable of diving in archers, killing them and them running away with zero damage my rebalance: make them shield regrow SO FAST that a single archer targeting it will never deal damage. They regrow one shield at exactly the time to reload the crossbow This way the shrivansha rider picks lone archers with zero damage, tanks a lot of arrows when mixed with camels and are capable of being a pest in the enemy eco BUT they still die hard to any melee damage. If it becomes too op, make them more vulnerable to melee

AoE2.ai is tracking 45,914 RM 1v1 players. Top five: #1 wR.Sebastian 2,967, #2 VIT | Hera 2,966, #3 Oni.Vinchester 2,921, #4 VIT Liereyy 2,854, #5 TAG_Sitaux 2,849. Longest hot streak in the sampled top ladder: Oni.TaToH (26 wins). Best sampled win rate with 300+ games: VIT | Hera 75.0%. 41 of the sampled top players have played in the last 24h.

Quick Play used to work okay…yeah people quit sometimes but it was playable - not any more! Sheer number of games that don’t start, or if they do end instantly, due to dodging is completely unplayable - this needs fixing, as someone who never dodges and is happy to play it out it is deeply annoying. Not pretending I know the solution fully but something like: More map bans (to keep those who really don’t wanna play a map happier - maybe with a warning that your queue time will go up the more you ban). Clearly stated dodging penalty of a few minute cooldown, repeat dodging it should get longer and longer. Ability at regular elo to block players you don’t want to play against who you know constantly dodge or quit early - I’d rather queue longer than play with them - and they should learn better habits than to selfishly ruin 7 other people’s experience quitting at the first thing - I understand at top elo this cant be a thing for ranked but this isn’t top elo and it isn’t ranked!

Since update 169123 the Fire Archers’ projectiles have a chance to deal no damage to the target when attacking in the short range mode. FREQUENCY OF ISSUE How often does the issue occur? Here’s the steps to reproduce the issue: Create new scenario in Editor. Create Fire Archer for Player 1 and War Elephant for Player 2. Put War Elephant on no attack stance and move Fire Archer close to War Elephant to avoid projectiles missing the target, after that order the Fire Archer to attack War Elephant. Observe how much damage the War Elephant receives. EXPECTED RESULT What was SUPPOSED to happen if the bug you encountered were not prese n t? Jurchens basically get a free albeit slightly weaker version of Bulgarians stirrup, but it applies straight from the Feudal Age. Sure, they lack knights but their steppe lancers and UU once you get a castle down are very good alternatives. Plus jurchens cavalry attack speed bonus applies to cavalry archers at the cost of no thumb ring and parthian tactics, still, this bonus is free from the get go. Now... Bulgarians have stirrups, which unlike Jurchens 25% attack speed. Bulgarians attack 33% faster upon building a castle and then getting stirrups. Still... this bonus only applies to melee cavalry units and it really should extend to cavalry archers too. Its balanced by the fact Bulgarians dont get ring archer armour (but do get Thumb Ring) it'll at least give the civ more flavour. Who is in favour of stirrups applying to cavalry archers too?

We never run out of trees in a game because they are normally quite abundant. But it happened sometimes. I wonder why this isnt a thing. It could be a cool mechanic. Edit: I think the commenters are right, if the trees spawn too fast then it can break the balance of the game. But if you have like a building like the other user mentioned, the Forester like in Settlers 2, that costs wood and stone, then it could be worth or fun to build it sometimes. It would go around plant trees slowly and randomly. You could make those new trees less quality with less wood to give a bonus to those who have natural wild trees.

The map was similar to Dota in its "skeleton"—you’d pick a unit and head into battle on a mostly horizontal map; in the bottom-right corner, there was a priest where you could upgrade your character's stats. I played this map many years ago and wanted to find it again; it was either in Conquerors* or the 2013 version—one of those two.

As the title says, it would be really useful to have a taunt that asks what resources other players need. I am a frequent team game player, and often there is a language barrier between players when playing solo queue. I personally think it would be very useful to have this as a communication option. The classic is just typing "ask / ask res", but that doesn't translate to everyone. It might be useful to have a taunt that asks this in native languages? We currently have taunts that allow you to ask for specific resources, and ones that ask players to send extra res / prepare to send res (e.g. 38 and 58). There is also one asking what res players have (44), but nothing prompting players to send you information on what resources they need. Now I know they can just ask by taunting 3,4,5,6 -but I really feel like many players just sit silently and never ask for res. It would be great to have a taunt that actually prompts them to respond. A simple "What resources do you need?" taunt would be perfect. This might have been suggested before, but I think it is a useful quality of life update that would benefit quite a few games.

Usually do 4v4 with some friends but tonight I need a more relaxed vibe from a hectic day (got me a new baby/villager) Anyone recommend some decent mods for custom fun whilst I get a night off? Is it possible? last time i went through with it today i couldnt. did they change it pernamently in update? that you cannot?

Regarding the subject, it is not like I am not happy to have new things in the game, however, having too many civs has many disadvantages especially in ranked. I don't mind having more civs as long as they only will be for single player and campaigns or unranked games. Otherwise I see that in the current situation we really need to have a ban draft pool that allows you to ban some civs in ranked before get in the queue to improve the fair play and get fair match up. It seems the devs are not planning to stop adding civs at all and recently all the new DLCs are coming with +3 civs which is really too much and they will add more in the future for sure. More civs means more imbalanced situation and unfair match up and civs win situations. IMO the devs should focus now on the balance changes and nerf many broken/imbalanced civs that have been in the game since years.
