After 4000+ Hours in Age of Empires II (1999–2026), I No Longer Recommend This Game. This is the game I used to open every single day. The classic I’ve played for over 25 years. The game I’ve poured thousands of hours and so much love into…And now, I genuinely cannot recommend it to anyone anymore. The game itself is still fun, but the developers’ decisions have completely killed my trust. Why ban trainers in a single-player game? For me aoe2 is single-player game. You’re playing alone. Who exactly are you protecting by blocking trainers? If you want to stop cheating in multiplayer, then just do it in multiplayer. Many other games already handle this perfectly: trainers work fine in single-player, but automatically disable as soon as you enter multiplayer. It’s not rocket science — the technology exists and is widely used. If you think third-party trainers are hurting your game, then make your own official trainer! Give players proper modding tools and customization options. Everyone wins. Instead, you chose the lazy nuclear option — a blanket ban that even affects single-player. That’s not game protection. That’s hostility toward your own players. I’m not defending online cheating. I just want to freely change resources, experiment with crazy builds, or simply enjoy god-mode once in a while in my offline games. It harms literally no one. A game that treats its single-player players like criminals is not a game I can keep supporting. The deeper my love once was, the greater my disappointment now. I hope other longtime players see this, and I hope the developers finally listen to their veteran community: Stop treating single-player fans like thieves.

Hello, I am writing this post to deeply complain about the current, unacceptable state of the Spanish (Spain) localization in Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition. For a game of this caliber, the translation feels incredibly lazy, unpolished, and completely abandoned. It looks like it was rushed through automated tools or a cheap AI without any human proofreading or testing. Here are the most glaring issues that ruin the experience for the Spanish community: Broken and Outdated Tech Tree (The Korean Issue): The localization team is completely ignoring balance patches. For example, the Korean tech tree bonuses and descriptions in Spanish are completely outdated compared to the English version. This directly misleads players about how the civilization actually works in the current build. Incoherent and Automated Translations: There is zero consistency. Terms and names are translated differently depending on the screen you are looking at. For instance, the classic and historically accurate Knight line progression from “The Conquerors” (Jinete ➔ Caballero ➔ Paladín) was ruined by a literal, robotic translation that renamed the basic Knight to “Caballero”, creating a redundant and confusing mess. The same happens with trade ships being named “Barca mercante” instead of the proper medieval term “Urca mercante”. Many strings feel like a machine translated them word-for-word without understanding AoE2 gameplay or medieval history. Cut-off Texts in the UI (Bad Design): Because Spanish words are usually longer than English ones, many descriptions and names in the Tech Tree do NOT fit into the user interface boxes. The text is completely cut off, meaning players literally cannot read the full names of upgrades or unique bonuses. The localization team clearly never booted up the game in Spanish to check if the UI scaling actually worked. They are not even at 1HP but the pathfinding algorithm for the unit when it is created still respects the unbuilt wall for finding a valid path making the unit stop. A re-issuing of the command fixes it, but that there is a separate implementation for finding path to set waypoint after a unit is created is kinda ???
