Welcome to my post! I’ve been following AoE2 for quite a while, and more and more new civilizations have been introduced to the game. As a Swiss player who is interested in both history and AoE2, I think the Swiss are a notable omission and would fit the game perfectly. I’ve had this idea for a long time. Around this time last year, I tried to implement the civilization using the Advanced Genie Editor, but I wasn’t able to make it work. The closest I came to implementing the civ can be seen in the picture below. Let me preface this by saying I have always been able to play AoE2DE with all the graphics maxed out, and I have already run tests with turning everything down to potato with no difference. So I'm coming back to AoE2DE after having put it down for a year, and I noticed a rather crippling issue when playing skirmish and campaigns, something that has never happened to me before; the game runs fine at 120 fps regardless of what's happening on screen. But then I select a modest amount of units (say, 15 or 20) and my fps drops immediately to 15. It goes right back up to 120 fps when I deselect my units. The lag persists even when the units I have selected are off-screen. OS: Bazzite CPU: Ryzen 5600x GPU: Arc A770 RAM: 32 GB DDR4

GAME INFORMATION GAME BUILD #: 24094652 GAME PLATFORM: Steam OPERATING SYSTEM: Windows 11 ISSUE EXPERIENCED When SP game vs. AI ended and went to stats screen, it flickered because I had a picture-in-picture video playing. The vid was over the lower-right corner of game while I played he whole time, no problem, as I often do. But as soon as I won and it went to the stats screen, flicker started. When I moved the PIP window over to my 2nd monitor, flicker went away. When I moved the PIP back over AoE2:DE on my 1st monitor, flicker resumed. Happens on the Options screen, too REPRODUCTION STEPS Here’s the steps to reproduce the issue: Pop out a browser video from another service Scale the vid smaller and place it in lower-right corner area of screen so you can watch/listen to the video while playing AoE2:DE Win the game, go to stats screen, watch flicker. Or, I’ve tested just existing the game and going to stats screen, same thing Go to Options menu, screen flickers there, too. Same issue happens when bringing screen-recording software overlay over to the same AoE2:DE pages EXPECTED RESULT Stable screen = good. Flickering = bad. IMAGE

Title says it all. I like to test strategies against extreme AI, but my games needlessly drag out because the AI refuses to resign around 80% of the time. Instead, it forces me to hunt down every last villager. Egregiously, the AI often runs away with some vills, hiding them in the corners of the map like a grieving human player. This screenshot is hilarious because I was saved by a snake, which killed the very last vill hidden in the corner to finally end the game. Not sure if it happens at other difficulty levels. I tried the 104/105 chat commands to no avail. hello aoe2 community, I was playing a game of Chinese 1v1 on Arabia (1250 ELO) and I've encountered a few things that got me scratching my head, specifically Castle Age aggression . Unless my math is wrong, Rocket Carts are less effective against buildings than Mangonels, and so I opted for Rams instead. Because I was facing Wei, I opted for a Fire Lancer + Skirmisher backup (due to the cav archers kiting my lancers). The enemy also added a defensive Mangonel, therefore: My line-up: Fire Lancers, Elite Skirmishers, 2 Siege Rams Enemy line-up: Xianbei Raiders, Hei Guang Cavalry, 1 Mangonel My logic was that the Mangonel was the largest threat to my offensive (I'm always scared of mangonels), so I thought "I have to get rid of that piece of junk + the subsequent Mangos that'd come out later," but I found that Fire Lancers aren't fast enough to get in and out without sustaining casualties under TC fire, and I didn't want to risk losing all of them. How to proceed in this scenario? My first instinct was that the Chinese tech tree isn't outfitted for Castle Age aggression (1250 elo brain), so I pondered these ideas: Go Rocket Carts and try to out-micro the Mangonels with Rocket Carts? Keep map control and boom into Imperial Age for Trebuchet back-up. P.S. - still learning. Thanks

how do i use formations? for some reason i sent some crossbowmen to attack a mangonel and when i clicked the flank formation it did nothing. but when i dont attack it, it works. is this normal? (i lost the battle including 12 crossbowmen and later lost the game)

Hey, Am I the only one having big probleme to build anything with villagers since the patch of june? Anything I try to build with the vills I have 50% chance of the villager just go in the middle of the foundation and get Idle doing nothing. This is very annoying. I always have to double click to be sure, lose time and apm. The worst moment is when you are housed and wait for that house to just realise your vills on the middle of the house foundation doing nothing! Someone have the same problem or have solution?

Mapuche are the only civ that has no options for land units for with melee armor if you do not count siege. If counting siege, then that gives the option of Heavy Scorpion which has 1 melee armor and trebs which have 1 or 2 depending on form. Every single other unit they have has 0 armor (or negative if counting rams). They even lack redemption to convert stables so they cant make xolotl warriors unless given a stable from megarandom. This makes them the only civ in the game that has effectively no melee armor unit.

Sorry for making yet another post about aoe2record replays. It's recently come to my attention that these replays are hosted by Microsoft and then vanish after a short time. I keep seeing ~2 months but in my experience it feels more like ~2-3 weeks. That's understandable.. must cost a lot of money to host these files for a long period. But is there no site or person keeping a curated selection of these replays for longer? For important matches such as grand finals and yearly prestigious tournaments?
