I dont get why was this removed. There is no reason why this should be removed. The fact you could do this, allowed you to sometimes escape to the forest and survive. Especially in FFA it was really funny. If the reason why it was removed is because it could give some advantage. I dont see how. Because it takes a lot to do that. And if everyone can do it why not? Onagers cut anyways. So the vil being able to cut the tree, and then on placing a palisade it removes the cut tree, why not?

After Viking Sagas was announced, I wonder how could we split every classic AoC civs. In fact I don’t have a proper method because it is just for fun! Some civs is splitted to sub-etnicities like Celts, some civs is splitted to civs that share common cultural elements like Huns, some civs is splitted to neigbour civs like Byzantines and Azteks, some civs is splitted as mix of those methods like Chinese and I couldn’t split some civ. There has been some elo deflation lately on the ladder, much in thanks to the 800-elo players deciding they are tired of living in the lower middle class. There were 3911 new and returning accounts to the ladder system this week which introduced a total of 89935 "new" points to the ladder. The 800 elo group gobbled up over a fifth of those points. - Statistics provided by aoe2companion.com's API

I saw a post recently about an AoE2 LAN in San Francisco and it got me thinking how great it would be to do something similar in Seattle. If that seems like something you'd be interested in attending could you leave a comment?

I don't play super often, and have never considered myself to be very good at this game. Lately I've been playing more and more and decided to give myself a nice little challenge after growing bored in a match... Get 1 Million gold Not crazy challenging, but was a fun time with my army of trade carts. Then I did harvesting 1 million gold which was a lot more challenging and time consuming. Now its 1,000,000 of everything! I have played a few different civilizations, including the Koreans(stone harvesting time boost) and the Portuguese(lots of buffs that felt like cheating). Set up.. Map is Yucatan, set on Ludicrous with standard resources. Easy AI, with 2 of them on a team. I take one out right away and set up a market near there to start making me gold. Then an army of villagers to start collecting resources The issue... On this last attempt, I have unearthed every single natural resource available, excluding the trees. I have hit over 1 million wood, food, and gold, but only 500k stone. Buying the 500k stone is out of the question...already spending over 1000 gold per 100. Cant sell the bulk I have, as its down to like 20 bucks a bundle and not worth all the clicks. So how the hell do I get that other 500k stone? Don't really want to use the Portuguese, or other civs that generate materials, unless there is skill involved. And id prefer not to just put infinite resources on...I still want it to be a challenging thing to some degree. What is some advice on getting there? Looking for challenging, but possible

My laptop broke a few years ago and I naively replaced with a Chromebook so haven’t been able to play aoe2! I’m looking to buy a budget laptop that can run aoe2 DE smoothly but don’t need a gaming laptop as I will likely only play that! So just a good all round laptop that won’t ever struggle to run aoe2. EDIT: To summarize I shouldn't have done the 4th TC. Should have done 5 range xbow production, gone to Imp to get Arbs and bracer. Those who said mass skirms, I think that's a very bad advice as FI could have resulted in either condos or genbows. If it was condos then skirms would be totally useless. So I had the Bohemians vs Italian matchup recently on Arena TG 2v2. I correctly predicted that opponent will Fast Imp, thus after second TC I started massing crossbows. I added first range in fuedal age as second building. Second and third range after second TC. I started continuous production of xbow while making vills and soon transitioned to 3rd and 4th TC as well. Got few relics and fervour as well. I had a large mass of xbows with balistics as he reached fast Imp. Soon my xbow were FU too. My plan was I will remain in long castle age, having a crazy eco and defending well enough using sheer number, until I go into imp and have houfnice. He was making Geneose xbow, few which I flattened with mangonel. But soon I found the hard way that my xbows were no match for his Genbows and BBC. His BBC kept flatenning my xbows despite I trying to split out of shots. At the end, I lost all my xbows, my base and villagers massacred. My teammate was also losing. I was 1400 while opponent was 1550 1v1 elo. Any advice? I feel this is much more difficult to deal with compared to turks FI, as there you can do knights. But not against genbows.

Yo, my brother is a really good player in this game. Hes been playing it since his childhood, and recently while he was at my place, he downloaded a new AoE2 installation, played it the entire weekend and won all games (if there were no leavers on his team), got to gold in like a day I think. Not sure if that makes him a god, but whatever. He watches Hera. So the logical thing is that I set a bet with him for quite a lot of money that I beat him in a year. The only RTS games I have ever played are some little RTSs on Roblox (Strategma and The Conquerors 3). I have a year to beat him. If yall can give me any basic or fun advice to beat him, Id be grateful! Ill play the game pretty often now, both because of the bet and because it seems really fun. So far, I guess I should learn some basic strategies regarding killing the cattle near my town hall at the start, keybinds for stuff and having my town hall busy at all times. Also, his fav civilizations are Mongols and Vietnamese. How can I counter him? Ill play like my life depends on it. Thanks!

Oh Tibet… perhaps the most requested yet most overlooked civilization in AOE2 history, the basis of dozens of requests and concepts and dreams, because this civilization absolutely belongs in the game; it’s arguably the biggest gap in the map left. So…. yeah, this is a concept for the civilization that focuses on a diverse heavily armored army. They’re similar in design to the Teutons, with one of their bonuses extremely reminiscent of that civilization. First of all, some thanks. This concept is heavily inspired on Admiral Wololo’s Tibetan Civilization Concept, which is excellently researched, presented, and designed, and it’s a must watch. His tech tree is brilliant, so much so I bearly changed it, and his civilization bonuses are appropriate and strong. The only issue I have is with his unique unit design, which felt a bit unfocused and overloaded on gimmicks (Ranged melee unit that generates food and resists armor ignoring attacks). The unique technologies have a similar issue, each giving 3 different effects. RobbyLAVAs Tibetan civilization concept also served as inspiration. A post by u/Asleep-Emotion9161 is also excellent, and is paired with some excellent custom skins and architecture the poster designed themselves. Extremely good work. Next, some flavor. Tibetans obviously deserve their custom Himalayan set of architecture, but if that’s too much, then the current East Asian set will have to do. Their Castle is the Gyantse Dzong, a famous fortress perched high on a brown rock, and their wonder is the Palcho Monastery, built during the Middle Ages. Their campaign will be Songsten Gampo, the founder of the Tibetan Empire. For language, they speak old Tibetan. With their flavor complete I give you the Tibetans!
