I was thinking about an extremely stupid question: What kind of map would make a single villager take the longest possible time to collect everything? Assumptions: standard resources only 480×480 (Ludicrous) 1 villager Dark Age Mayans (since resources last 15% longer) My current guess is: snake path across the whole map no shortcuts anywhere only one drop-off point, placed at the very edge of the map fill the path with gold So the villager has to mine a tile, walk all the way back, walk all the way in again, and just keep doing that forever: = gold, = blocker, = drop-off (treated as 1 tile) Very rough math: A 480×480 map has 230,400 tiles. If roughly half of them can be used for the snake path and the other half for blockers, that gives a path length of around 115,000 tiles. That means the furthest gold tile is about 115,000 tiles from the drop-off, and the average tile is around 57,500 tiles away. A villager carries 10 gold per trip. With Mayans, an 800 gold tile becomes 920 gold, so each tile takes 92 trips. Back-of-the-envelope, this feels like it should take 40,000+ years ! Is that actually the worst possible setup, or is there some even more cursed map design? You could also use water as the blocker and fill it with shore fish, but there’s a weird interaction there: if the villager mines 10 gold first and then gathers fish, the carried gold gets dropped, so they don’t have to walk all the way back just to unload it.

Posting with minimal hope. I have been playing aoe2 for years and recently ran into some issues. I have a PC where I regularly play and it’s been good. Recently, the Mac version was released and I installed it on my Mac to play with my kids who also have MacBooks. It was amazing, but that’s where all the joy ended. Later I went to play on my PC, and the game synced from Mac via steam cloud, After that, the game became unplayable with constant lagging. I have trying everything possible but nothing really fixed the issue. I contacted support and they responded but they have provided any reasonable solution/fix/update that helps the situation. They did mention that it seems like cross platform corruption. I used to play regularly but since the issue I try and give up after 1-2 games and lately haven’t been playing at all. It really sucks. If someone can help, that would be amazing. The only solution might be that I buy the game and DLCs on a completely new account but that seems so unfair since it’s not my fault this game is messed up for me.

GAME BUILD #: 179158 GAME PLATFORM: Steam OPERATING SYSTEM: Windows 11 ISSUE EXPERIENCED DESCRIBE THE ISSUE IN DETAIL (below). LIMIT TO ONE BUG PER THREAD. There is a persistent issue regarding how the Return of Rome expansion handles localization files. While I have correctly configured my mod using the key-value-modded-strings-utf8.txt file located in \modes\Pompeii\resources\es\strings\key-value\ , the game fails to maintain these changes. When I download and install this text mod via the official repository, it applies successfully during the initial session. However, these changes are not persistent; upon restarting the game, the engine reverts to the default official strings. Even though the mod remains marked as ‘Enabled’ in the Mod Manager, the game ignores the custom file. Currently, the only way to make the mod functional is to re-download it, and even then, the changes are lost as soon as the game application is closed. FREQUENCY OF ISSUE How often does the issue occur? CHOSE ONE; DELETE THE REST ! 100% of the time / matches I play (ALWAYS) REPRODUCTION STEPS List CLEAR and DETAILED STEPS we can take to reproduce the issue ourselves… Be descripti ve!
