I am trying to publish a custom campaign mod for Age of Empires II: DE via the in-game Mod Manager but I keep receiving the error message: “Failed Publishing Mod - Error: Only mod files containing AOE mod files accepted”. FREQUENCY OF ISSUE How often does the issue occur? CHOSE ONE; DELETE THE REST! 100% of the time (ALWAYS) REPRODUCTION STEPS List CLEAR and DETAILED STEPS we can take to reproduce the issue ourselves… Be descriptive! Here’s my troubleshooting steps attempted: File Type Verification. I confirmed that the custom campaign image ia a valid .dds file (Saved via Paint.NET as DirectDraw Surface. Folder structure Check. There are no stray files like .txt and .ini. Temporarily removed the wigdetui folder to test if the .dds file was causing the crash, but the error persisted. Lastly I tried creating a clean .zip archive of the ‘resources’ folder and uploaded it directly to the site. Received the error: “There has been an error in processing your mod. Please review the information and try again.” EXPECTED RESULT What was SUPPOSED to happen if the bug you encountered were not present? My mod should upload via the Mod Menu.

I reached 1200 ELO after years of quite casual yet focused playing and I'm happy to share it ! https://www.aoe2insights.com/user/5373208/ For last 2 years I wasn't playing on regular basis , though in general spent 1300 hours on Aoe2. I was staying around 1100, with occasional drops +/- 50 ELO. Last few games I decided to play with Vietnamese as stats has shown that I have 100% win rate (although played with them only 4 times lol ) . Decided to try maa rush plus double range archers and apply a lot of pressure , build siege, stay 1 TC intitially. Kind of loved them for seeing enemy TC plus how you overflow with wood (thanks to exo bonuses not requiring it). Great for archer push. Interestingly it's hard to say what's better since I was around 1000 ELO . Probably less mistakes , remembering about eco bonuses and more focus on economy and boom, less idle TC. Cheers and GLHF !

I played a lot of AoE II in my childhood and have just picked it up again. Absolute love it. I’m introducing my friend to it Friday, I’ve build our home country (Denmark+a bit of Sweden, England and Norway) as a ludicrous big map and I’m so excited. But I’m a bit rusty. How do I introduce him properly without making it too confusing? What strats, civs and so on? I usually do the turtle one with great economy but passive until late game (I play on moderate) Any advice?

Not even playing the game atm - just watching a lot of Hera and enjoying the nostalgia. But I have discovered certain early game strategies are looked down on. Why? If you master a certain style, such as raiding early and disrupting your opponent - isn’t that legit? Happy to be proven wrong!

My highest-ever ELOs are currently 1250 1v1 and 1300 I think for team games, so you won't be getting pro-level coaching, but I'd argue there are many merits to learning from someone just 1 or 2 stages ahead of you rather than a pro player that's infinitely ahead (although overall the latter is better). For example, the one that's not pro could potentially have a lot more awareness of what it's like in your elo bracket compared to a 2.5k player, being that he had to play closer to that elo a lot more. And at your skill level of 700-900, there are a lot of simple and easy mistakes that almost anyone middle-tier or upper-middle tier could tell you, that don't really take anywhere close to a pro player to notice. Heyo, As a follow up to my previous video (and thank you so much for eveyone's help: Top 10 Biggest Throws in Age of Empires 2 ) I am now working on the Top 10 Big Brain plays! I have a few in mind, but I need your expertise and historical knowledge 😁 I'm looking for tournament games where a player either did something out of the box, or completely out-strategize their opponent. I'm thinking: - TheViper vs Liereyy, trapping him in his own base RBW Enthrone Finals game 7 - ACCM vs Hera, going for a corner build, showing out of the box thinking BD SemiFinals game 4 What other moments or games can you remember? Ideally I'd prefer tournament/qualifer games, doesn't matter the Tier. Looking forward to your answers!

So today I won a game again. Ranked 2v2. I see he is coming with donjons. So im thinking, are you sure of that? I wall thinking he is not going to be dumb and insist. Come on man, dont do that, lets play a proper game. A long game like back in the days. I was thinking. But he keeps insisting. So I wall like crazy. He desperately attacks the walls. Makes more donjons. I just keep walling 🦁. Im in castle getting stone, with 3 tcs, and he is there with his stupid donjons and his sargeants. I make catapult, and upgrade the walls. He reaches imperial, which means he didnt boom properly.... You can see where this is going. As soon as we entered them a bit they resigned instantly. This is not fun. Its a waste of time. I hope the fortress tactic picks up so that rush tactics end. I hope in the future the standard is always to boom, instead of trying to win the game with what it feels to me are bitch tactics. I like AoE2 late game, big armies, big battles, treb war, onager here and there, counters, trade.

I've been seeing a lot of AoE 2 chill/ambience videos on Youtube and there are also users here who make pretty towns and cities in the map editor, it got me thinking about how much I enjoy the building/city management aspect of the game. I feel like the game's aesthetic and decorative option palette could work quite well for that. What if there was a new DLC/game mode that had less emphasis on combat/military units and instead let you play AoE2 as a city builder game? Obviously we would need some major tweaks, a few off the top of my head: Deemphasize military units, but don't remove them, cities still need guards Discourage clear cutting forests, it makes sense to clearcut when fuelling a war machine, but deforested landscapes are not pretty :( New/adjusted buildings for city activities Infrastructure management ...or am i just crazy and way off base here?

The AI resignation messages always make me smile, so I crafted my own excuses for losses online: My petards were ambushed by a wolf pack en route to thy castle. No wonder thou wert victorious! I shall abdicate. My monks converted a sheep instead of thy cavalry. The heavens have forsaken me! I shall abdicate. My monk dropped the relic directly into the jaws of a wild boar. My gold revenue is lost to digestion! I shall abdicate. My siege tower rolled off a cliff whilst carrying my army. Gravity hath outmaneuvered me! I shall abdicate. My villagers foolishly chased thy scout across the entire map. My economy hath collapsed! I shall abdicate. Admittedly, I'm usually too frustrated to use any of these when losing to cheesy strategies. But my opponents deserve an 11 after a good fight. Any suggestions?

Okay, I'm sure everyone and their dog has asked this question but, am I over thinking about what Civ I should main from the get go when really I should just be learning the fundamentals and once I'm more comfortable then maybe trim my selections down and refine what I like and what I don't like? I'm not a complete beginner to RTS or AoE but I'm by no means good or confident in my ability, Im gonna lose a lot before I start to improve but I feel like I'm so.focused on picking the right Civ from the get go that I don't actually end up playing online instead I just jump into skirmish with different civs til i see what sticks Okay cheers thank P.S sorry if this is the one million post like this

1) it often backfires and hurts them / me (if I’m doing it) 2) to many players think laming is unacceptable but rushing with militia or scouts and killing vills in fuedal is…guys it’s a war game 11. Anything goes. War crimes are rampant 3) certain civs like Vietnamese and Burmese to a lesser extent have a bonus of knowing where enemy is ahead of time. Should they not use their bonus? 4) I’ll agree the old way of laming with a scout was bad because the food spoiled immediately. The new rule changes are good I think. 5) anything to knock someone off their lame crafted build order is good as a player. When I lame I find it funny how other players struggle suddenly. This game to me is more fun when you have to make adjustments Anyway I’m usually Burmese which while I love has some serious disadvantages vs archer civs. So I lame all the time and the chat can be pretty negative.

MAA rush with extra pierce armor to delay enemy. Then castle up. Produce 5 or 6 gbeto and go raid the enemy vils. Quick walling doesn't work against gbeto because they are ranged. Spotted a castle being built? Gbeto their asses. You either deny the castle or the enemy will be down 8 to 10 vills. Opponent is overcommiting to cavalry to stop your gbetos? camel their ass. Opponent is overcommiting to archers to stop your gbetos? beat it and go raid somewhere else. Even two gbetos slipping through a wood line can do huge economic damage. Civ is not great at imperial but who cares when the game is over by castle? I hope they never nerf this civ, it dominates lower elos in a way that is not even funny.

I’m trying to play campaign on my PC, but the game’s constantly stuck at 15-18fps. I tried updating the drivers but that did not help and restarting did not help either. I also tried playing the game on low graphics but it was still stuck on around 15-20fps. Is there a way I could fix or optimise the game? Graphics settings at are maxed out at 4k. Current PC specs: I9-13900k RTX 4090 64GB RAM

guys, huge issue in multiplayer (especially 4v4). when I place a building, the villager walks to the center, stops, and goes idle. I have to re-click to make them build. my FPS is stable, hardware is fine, and my internet is good (no lag in other games). Is this a server desync? any fix, or is it unplayable?
