Can someone please help me make a list of all buffs you get when playing the game each time you get to the next age? I tried finding this information in Aoe fandom but only find it if I go specific to each unit/building. I asked the AI but I cant confirm all of this, or if there are more things which auto-upgrade (without counting civilization bonuses like pikeman with Ethiopians, etc): Universal Unit Auto-Upgrades Unit Age Advancement Automatic Stat Changes Scout Cavalry Dark → Feudal • +2 Attack (increases from 3 to 5)• +0.35 Speed (increases from 1.2 to 1.55)• +2 Line of Sight (LOS) Eagle Scout Feudal → Castle • +3 Attack (increases from 4 to 7)• +2 vs. Cavalry bonus damage• +1 vs. Camels/Ships bonus damage• Reduced training time (60s down to 35s) Every building in AoE2 has hidden armor classes (such as "Building" and "Standard Building"). In addition to the flat HP boosts detailed below, all standard buildings passively receive +1 Melee Armor and +1 Pierce Armor for every single age advancement starting from Feudal Age. Walls and Gates Palisade Walls ) : Gain +100 HP (150 → 250) when entering the Feudal Age . Palisade Gates: Gain +160 HP (240 → 400) when entering the Feudal Age . Stone Walls: Gain +900 HP (900 → 1800) when entering the Castle Age . (They suffer a hidden 50% HP penalty during Feudal Age that clears once you advance). Watch Towers: Automatically gain +320 HP (700 → 1020) the moment you hit the Castle Age

Just like in aoe1, wolves, crocks, lions etc should give some amount of food. I remember them decaying a bit faster than deer and the gather rate was slower as well. I think it would give some reward When running into one with forward vil or walling vils in BF for example. Also for maps like golden pit, or even arena it could also help for some build order. You'd gather from them just like deer or chicken, not like foxes. its a small plus for awkward situations ane doesnt break the meta or balance of the game

Hello. I’m a player who doesn’t know much about Western European history. While looking into the new civilizations in the upcoming DLC, I learned something interesting. I knew that the Saxons were one of the Germanic peoples who migrated to Britain and became part of the Anglo-Saxons, but apparently only some of them migrated there, while the majority remained in northern Germany. I also learned that they later established the Duchy of Saxony. Then I remembered that in the AoE2 Barbarossa campaign, both Saxony and Henry the Lion appear, and historically they were Saxon. Does this mean that, after the DLC is released, their civilization could be changed from Teutons to Saxons? There’s one more thing I’m curious about. If that happens, the Teutons, which have traditionally represented the Holy Roman Empire in AoE2, would effectively be split into Saxons and Teutons. Do you think we could see even more civilizations split off from the Holy Roman Empire in the future? History experts, please enlighten me!

There are two reasons why people hate units with gimmicks. One is that units with gimmicks are not clear about what they do. The second reason is that some are not intuitive. Clarity Problem: There are no visual effects or sound effects or poisons, bleeds, slows, charged attacks, dodges, or auras. There should be two fixes for this one. The first reason is for every gimmick a unit has, it gets a button on its UI explaining that gimmick. The button will be in the last row, which is the formation row. This will be visible for everyone. If you don't know what a unit does, you simply click it and read its ability. The second reason is sounds and visual effects. Example: Every slow in the game should have one common sound and a visual effect applied to the slowed unit. Unintuitive Problem: This is for having the Genoese crossbows good against Cavalry. Or having Rattan Archer acting as a skirmisher. I would say these units should be revisited with updates and changed. Or for such bonus damage against cavalry, give the projectile a special sound different from other arrows. Some other people will hate gimmicks for being gimmicks and want AoK back, but that is out of this post's topic. I am suggesting a solution to a problem.

Sorry guys… I’ve really enjoyed Reddit as a whole and the community here. My take on GenZ not being able to be more drawn to aoe2 due to its complexity was wrong. I apologize and hope we can still be friends.

This isn’t bait, it’s concern 🙁 Didn’t mean to incite generational warfare… unless it meant playing aoe2 together ——— Is it They don’t have the patience… or multi-tasking skills. 1.) Does aoe2 require more patience? 2.) Do they bypass RTS genre? 3.) Are FPS harder than aoe2? 4.) Shouldn’t they be better than us old guys at multi-tasking due to them being tech savvy? 5.) Are the aoe2 matches TOO long to keep their attention? What are some suggested remedies so we can tap into this Gen to keep the game alive…? I ain’t getting in younger boys. -Shoveler

In addition to ELO, players can be matched by a few more parameters. For example, rate of quitting early, advance age times, etc. Players of the same behavior will be matched together - so smurfs against smurfs, FC UU only players against each other, etc. Normal players can still use those strategies, but they’re encouraged to try various strategies so they can meet other interesting players. Edit: the point is to encourage players to try different strategies. If a player doesn’t have a predictable pattern then they won’t get matched with a player with a predictable pattern.

Hey, A shot in the dark but when I was young (20-25 years ago) I played this map for hundreds of hours. Had a weird urge to play it and figured I'd see if anyone would know where to find it. I believe it's "Blood money", where after a certain amount of kills you get the next set of units. They spawn from your castle to your rally point. It's not your generic Blood money map however, it's just a basic flat map with zero geometry. Everyone has one castle and if it's destroyed, you no longer produce unit. There's 12 or 16 enemies (I played against AI most of the time). It would create massive battles that were fun to watch, eventually one AI getting so strong that it starts wiping the floor. Thanks!

Many of the campaigns, from Age of Kings to The Last Chieftans are excellent scenarios reflecting historical battles (sometimes not that accurately) in a range of gameplay. However, there may be something in regards to a scenario that you may feel is not quite right. Is it gameplay or historical accuracy? Would you do something completely different or is it perfect? 107: Suryavaraman 4 - Challenging a Thalasocracy

For frequent Monk users you likely have run into this problem on team games where players will resign because they see your score sitting 1-2 thousand lower than expected on a team game, rage quitting because they aren't being shown the data of how much value is being added to your side by restoring units to full health repeatedly. It's always somewhat mysterious and arbitrary how scoring data is decided on for the in-game counter, but frankly every 5 or 10hp healed should be equivalent to 1 point. When I'm healing my own troops and my allies' for thousands of points throughout a game, it would help these spazzes relax a little to see that it boosts the score. You would be surprised how many players do not understand how good Monks are. And of course it would rock to be able to see in statistics or replay a counter / tracker of total hit points healed. Because I guarantee if one player is restoring 10,000 HP over an hour+ long game, they're the winning team, because of that. As is, hopping onto a team game with these rude, impatient quitters with the intention of using Monks (which are often said by top players to be the best unit in the game) is shooting yourself in the foot because as you all know, people WILL resign over score differences regardless if you win engagement after engagement with the wololos + healing. I'd actually be surprised if half the playerbase know that Monks can heal. Would be a massive quality of life improvement on the game and just... make sense. I don't know why it's not already a feature in the game.

I would love to know how my wall died with some wood on the floor or the corpse of the buff man. Fragments of the barrel maybe. Some 🔥 would be cool too. Every other land unit has a corpse that's left behind. Why no petard 😞. Add a after death animation on the ground please.
